I have been given this email address klm_airline02@yahoo.com and it is supposed to be a travel agent. How do I check this out to see if it is valid.

Technically, Yahoo owns it. Airlines would never contact you with an email like this. A quick google of it did not turn up anything about it, except that it's included in questions on Yahoo Answers. I would be very suspicious. You are nearly always best to book direct from the airline to avoid any additional booking fees, and to get instant service on a ticket if something goes awry before or during travel. If you book through a TA, then the airline will send you back through them to resolve any service issues on the ticket, adding an unecessary layer of hassle and time to resolve ticket issues.

It does not sound promising.
Most travel agencies have their own website and have an e-mail address that has either their own shop name after the @ or the name of the big company they are working with, not a yahoo address.

Ask for the website address of the travel agency, check the company they work with and check any insurance and guaranty schemes they claim.

Before you commit yourself, check everything, because you owe money as soon as you admit you want to buy.
