I find it a contradiction. Does anyone else see something wrong here?

Debate should be civil, and the last few lengthy postings I do respect and appreciate. If I was totally into Star Trek (which I'm not) and I was searching for something spiritual to say, I'd say (Live long and prosper) :)

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the super mean killing-machine God either. I mean, I realize he was trying to make a point, but when is it ever ok to kill? Never, according to Him! So, yeah, I don't get it. It's one of those questions you hope will be answered once you're in heaven. Personally, I like to believe in the all-loving, caring, and accepting version of God. :) What can I say, I'm just a positive person.

You're quite correct, looking at it in human terms, just as visiting iniquities "unto the third and fourth generation" (as threatened, promised, in the ten commandments) would be banned under the Geneva convention clause which covers "collective punishment".

But Paul explains all this in Romans 9: "Potters rights".
God can do what he likes with no complaint allowed, because we stand to him as clay to a potter.
Whatever he does, however apparently unfair.
Even people created only to be objects destined for destruction.

Either that's how it is, learn to appreciate and love it,
or the bible and Paul are way, way, off about the nature of the universe.
Take your pick.

First you need to find an accurate translation. It does not say "thou shalt not kill" it actually says "thou shalt not murder". There is a difference. Sometimes to take a life is justified, however murder is never justified. A soldier acting in war is not committing murder in combat, if they intentionally kill civilians in cold blood then it is murder. This exempts bombings because they did not intend to kill the civilians, they were unintentional casualties. To kill in self defense is also not murder because you have to be able to protect yourself. Even if you accidentally hit someone with a car it is not murder because the intent was not there.

The Bible also has an "age of accountability" which exempts children from separation from God, aka Hell, upon death because they did not understand the decision that had been presented to them. If they had lived they most likely would have rejected God and separated themselves because of the evil that surrounded them, in this light it is a mercy.

God was also working on behalf of his followers, Noah and his family, because if this had not happened then they would have been killed. The people had already declared war on God, he was just responding in kind.

If you read the book of Genesis in the Bible you will learn that Noah preached the entire time he and others were building the ark, over 120 years.

Noah spent each day warning others to repent and to accept his invitation through God's grace to be with him onto the ark.

The curious came by, but they all scoffed at God's warning and paid no attention to what he was preaching.

Sadly, God had to do what He did. But not without warning. And I would say 120 years of warning is sufficient.

Indeed, I would see it as full of compassion and patience towards a society full of lust and evil bent on destruction. They had a way out, a way of safety. The ark.

Today it's the same, "as in the days of Noah." There's a powerful movement in all the world with millions of people receptive to the Gospel message of eternal life. A free gift from God to you. A way of safety to escape this world of sin.

God cannot let sin continue forever. Christ will return one soon day and to take back with Him the saved.

If your heart is pulled by the Holy Spirit, to the Gospel, listen to it and get to know your Savior. Time is truly running out for this planet.

Pray today and invite Jesus into your heart. He's talking to you at this very moment. Just listen. He's calling again and time is almost gone.

Well did the bible says that it is only Noah family is free from sins. So it means the people who has sins will infect others.
But you are right god must not kill Babbie's, but i think that is why it had to be done it is because of who is going to take care of the baby in the land of the living the babies is going to need a allot of milk and food don't you think?
So i think god had think of it but they have not die in vain the new generations awaits them in the blood of Noah's family.

Why stop there? since 100 percent of people die, why not say he murders everyone? I mean, is old age really less of a murder than baby's dying?

The fact is, 100 percent of people DO DIE. But It was not so in the beginning. Man was intended to live forever, but then sin entered into the world. And those of us who are born again into Jesus will live forever in Heaven. It's not God's fault that man rebelled. If men would have listened to God's loving advice, we would all live forever here on Earth.

And no, those babies were not innocent. Go to a nursery sometime, and you will see that babies are sinners just like the rest of us. They get angry, and hit, and steal, and are selfish just like the rest of us.

There it is again. The thinking that death is the end of all existence. Yes, babies and children are innocent. That is children before the age of accountability. These children that were drowned in the great flood and also put to death in the wars for the occupation of Canaan are now back in the presence of Heavenly Father. They were sinless when alive and sinless in death. They had no concept of right and wrong. They are celestial beings now. This whole concept of babies needing to be baptized is another misnomer derived from the Nicene Creed and later councils. Heavenly Father, the architect and one who presided over the creation is the supreme being in the universe. That is what we are all striving for as of now, to return to our Heavenly Father and inherit his kingdom. The children that have died before reaching the age of accountability will gain a perfect body in the first resurrection and continue to progress.
This is my belief and my opinion.

More importantly --

We, for no good reason, have invaded Iraq (the point is not that we all know Saddam was a bad guy) and with carpet bombing, Blackwater, military arrogant shooting road rage and on and on are not only killing thousands of innocent children, mothers, fathers, grand parents; we are subjecting them to continuous horror year after year. Can you imagine their plight when you also consider how many of our troops come home psychologically damaged and these people are stuck living there suffering our giving them 'freedom'?

email me. But don't give me any Communist hate crap. I'm not communist. Got it?

For the LORD giveth, and the LORD taketh away!---He has that privilege you know! --and neither you or anybody else is going to change that, so quit complaining!--It's funny how you try to get someone else to say, is something wrong here? Don't you know that when you stand in JUDGMENT, on judgment day that your going to be there all alone! nobody, just you and your CREATOR, then you can tell him why did he do, what he did! GOOD LUCK!!!!!

The commandment is not 'Thou shall not kill' it is 'Though shall not murder', although some bibles today are mistranslated a lot of them do say this. These are two very different concepts.
