You are refering to the Gospel of Matthew chapter 5 verse 39
(the sermon no the mount) okay, what this tells me is this; avoid getting yourself into a situation. Turn away from it! But sometimes we can't help it, that's where prayer comes in handy by asking Jesus for spiritual strength, and wisdom! I profess Christ as my LORD and Saviour. So I've got some experience in this. Twenty years worth! And I would not change any of it for nothing! Recieve Jesus today!

So this whole thing that Jesus said doesn't have a lot of immediate direct impact on our society today. Jesus lived in a society of shame and honor. In that society, it was an act of shame to slap someone with the palm of the hand. so to slap the right cheek you'd have to backhand them with the right hand. to slap the other cheek, you'd have to backhand them with the left hand, which was also shameful because that was the unclean hand. It is a method of shaming them for the thing that they did, not of laying down and being a wuss.

I can't remember my right cheek being struck, not since I've been Christian anyway. But I have been wronged and didn't try to get revenge. If I do, that means that I still need to grow spiritually. If I don't that means that I am spiritually mature enough to not do it, following what he said. In neither case does it mean that I am righteous or pure or good. Those things come from God, not me.

I try, usually I leave to avoid escalating the issue. I would never retaliate in violence - and I think this is what Jesus wants, not so much to be a door mat, but to refrain from violent actions. I'm a believer in talking things through to a peaceful conclusion.

I am not sure if this verse is meant to be taken literally or figurativly. As it is in the bible, I would hope that I could follow it but I am really not sure about this verse. I think it makes more sense in context but at the moment I cannot quite remember what the context is.

actually, that is not the intent.
When stuck, in general they would do a right handed back hand. If you turn, as if to give them the left cheek, they miss.

Mostly no unless I am sure that He/she will not strike me on the left cheek.

I have for myself, and I have not when it is done to someone other than me, for it is not for me to say that they should tun their cheek, that is between them and God, so I protect them because I do not like abusers.
I'm bad enough myself, and need much rectifying, I don't want people acting worse than me hurting my fellow humans and other creatures. Despotic rule is not something I favor, so I entrust the rights of the victim to themselves, so long as they victimize no-one else.
God bless.

I have already done this to a golden glove boxing winner and it did not hurt as bad as I thought that it would, but I think that God gave me the grace to do it.

Oh, gladly!
(I actually wish that would happen just so that I can show the love of Christ to the person hitting me, even if that would make me look weak to the other guy.)
