I am a 21 year old Christian college student and so is my boyfriend. We both want to take an 8 hour drive to another city in our state to see a concert at another college. My parents are giving me grief about going on a "roadtrip" with my boyfriend but I feel I shouldn't have to ask their permission at my age. The venue is on the campus of the college and we'd be staying for three nights with my boyfriend's church friends that are a brother and sister that have an apartment together near campus. My father is very overbearing because I am the baby of the family...do you think, as Christians, I ought to go?

Let me also add that my boyfriend and I have been dating a year and are both committed to not have sex before marriage. My parents have had no issues with me going away with him as long as our destination includes someone's Christian parents. Why should two Christians our age be any different....

The arrangements you have made are acceptable. Go have a good time, and don't forget to profusely thank your hosts for allowing you to stay in their home.

You are correct that at 21 you do not need your parents permission. However, what you really want is your parents approval, not permission.

It's commendable that you and your boyfriend have committed to no sex before marriage. However, as your parents probably know, that can be a real 'slippery slope' when you're in love and away alone for a long period of time.

Smarter, more spiritual people than you have fallen victim to sexual desire. It would be foolish on your part to think you're not susceptible.

Parents generally can see the dangers that their children cannot see. There is a possibility that you will take this trip and all will be well. By the same token, there is a possibility that you will wish you didn't.

Good Christians would avoid the opposite sex especially if you are going to spend days and nights together.

Have you guys ever spent the night somewhere together before? If yes, and didn't have sex, go BUT if you are under parent's roof, I wouldn't go.

I think as an adult you're aware of the gravity of your situation at all times, this one is no different, and if you can be trusted to attend college (and let's face it, you're an adult so you HAVE to be) you should be trusted to attend this function without forgetting yourselves. Ultimately your parents don't factor into this much because you're grown...you just haven't asserted that fact yet. Welcome to you rite of passage.
