Mine is Rahab. She is also an outstanding example of one who, though not an Israelite, by works proved her complete faith in Jehovah. Hebrews11:30, 31 tells us “By faith,” “Rahab the harlot did not perish with those who acted disobediently, because she received the spies in a peaceable way.” James 2:25 asks “Was not also Rahab the harlot declared righteous by works, after she had received the messengers hospitably and sent them out by another way?”
She turned her life around, became a faithful servant of Jehovah's and was priviledged to become an ancestress of Christ.

I'm having a hard time choosing between Ruth and Martha the sister of Lazarus.
I have a deep admiration for Ruth who chose a more difficult path because of her love and loyalty to Jehovah and his people. Returning to her "people and her gods" after becoming a widow would certainly have been easier. But she chose to remain with her widowed mother-in-law and serve Jehovah, although they were both now destitute. (Ruth 1:14-17) She too, though not a natural Jew was privileged to become an ancestress of Jesus Christ. Both Rahab and Ruth prove that God's favor does not depend upon what nationality a person happens to be, but their faith and devotion to God.
I identify with Martha because I too, am hospitable and have to fight the tendency to put too much emphasis on physical provisions and preparations for my guests. Although it is understandable that she wanted to prepare perhaps an extravagant, multi-course meal for Jesus Christ, (I would have wanted to do the same), doing so prevented her from receiving valuable instruction at the feet of Christ himself! Many times I have had to remind myself (or my husband reminds me) to be balanced in this regard also.

Dear Bay,

It is a tough choice. There are so many wonderful female Bible characters!

With others I pick Ruth because her life demonstrates that there is hope for all of us. Being a despised Moabite, she did the uncommon thing of leaving her people and the idols they worshiped to go to Israel with her mother-in-law, Naomi.

But how can I separate Naomi and Ruth? Naomi lived her life in such a way that Ruth saw that she worshiped the true and living God. She encourages me to live my life in such a way that others will see something different about me and want to draw near to the One I worship.

Ruth married Boaz, a descendant of Rahab and they had their names forever written in the ancestry of King David and then the Messiah!

For His glory,
JOYfilled

The Bible additionally relates in a favorable mild the story of Ruth, an ancestress of Jesus Christ. Ruth, a Moabite lady who became married to an Israelite, grew to become a widow and became confronted with a decision: stay in her very own usa or return together with her spouse's mom to Israel. recognizing the more desirable cost of Jehovah’s worship in comparison with the idolatrous worship practiced by using her mum and dad, Ruth declared to her spouse's mom: “Your human beings would be my human beings, and your God my God.”—Ruth a million:sixteen, 17. Commenting on the area of this checklist contained in the Bible canon, the Dictionnaire de l. a. Bible explains that this account shows “how a girl of foreign places delivery, born between a pagan human beings destructive to and hated by using Israel, . . . because of the fact of her love for Jehovah’s usa and worship, quite providentially grew to become an ancestress of holy King David.” Ruth did no longer hesitate to % a faith that became distinctive from that of her mum and dad, and as a effect of that decision, she won God’s blessing.

wow..this is hard.
probably I would have to go with Mary the mother of Jesus. It must have been really hard for her to become pregnant out of wedlock and everyone hate her because they assumed that she was in sin, when really she did nothing wrong. She stood for her son even before he was born. It took a ton of courage to carry on.
My runners up are Tamar (Judah's daughter-in-law) and Rahab

I definatly love Sarai, later Sarah. She was such a strong person but she also had her faults. I probably feel he most attatched to her because I have a novel based on her life but I really think that she is a great role model. There have been so many strong woman through out the bible and I think it is immportant that we learn about them and study them like we would any male character. My other favourite it Ruth. She was just such a loving, devoted person that I can't help but wish I knew her personally. She is another great role model, who also had her faults but works through them with the strength God gave her.

Mine has to be Ruth. She was so amazing; leaving her homeland and everything she knew to follow and care for her mother in law. And she listened to what Naomi told her and they both prospered. I loved the story. Although I pretty much love all the amazing women of the Bible.

I'd have to say, Mary of Magdalene, because she showed her overwhelming appreciation for the loving forgiveness of Jesus. She was also the first person to see Him upon His ressurrection!

Jael. She killed the bad man Sisera, who was oppressing the Israelites.

Judges 4:17-21

"As for Sisera, he fled on foot to the tent of Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite, for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the household of Heber the Kenite......

And Ja-el the wife of He-ber proceeded to take a pin of the tent and to put the hammer into her hand. Then she went to him stealthily and drove the pin into his temples and beat it into the earth, while he was asleep and weary. So he died."

She didn't just hammer the tent peg into his head, but THROUGH his head, and INTO the ground!!!!

That's GRRL power!!!! You go girl!

It's hard to pick, but I guess my favorite is Abigail. She was a quick thinker and did what she had to do. It kept David out of trouble that time and she eventually became his wife.
