People with restless leg syndrome simply don't exert enough energy before trying to fall asleep. During the afternoon or late evening, they should go for a jog for at least 30 minutes. After doing this, their legs should not be so restless anymore. People get restless when they don't exercise enough or exert enough energy! I'm just so tired of seeing these doctors making up new syndromes (I know RLS has been out for at least a couple years now) so the pharmaceutical companies can pump Americans full of new drugs which in a couple years will be shown to cause heart failure and a multitude of other problems. EXERCISE AMERICA, and I guarantee alot of your problems will just disappear. This is just my opinion, a very strong opinion though.

lil-miss-cookie: I'm very sorry to hear that exercise doesn't work for your RLS. I am glad to hear you are taking valuum to help you sleep rather than any of these much newer medications. Valuum can be addictive for some, not all, people but it has a longer history than Requip or any RLS medicines and is safe if used properly.

I just wanted to add this. I was misdiagnosed with schizophrenia and was taking Geodon and Abilify, at separate times, and it gave me akathisia (a feeling of motor restlessness) in the legs real bad, where it kept me up at night. I am guessing RLS is much like that feeling I had. A doctor told me to start taking B-12 because the medicines were causing a deficiency. It worked very well and almost completely eliminated the akathisia. I'm just curious, has anyone here that has RLS tried B-12? Did it help any? I know my problem was caused by the medicine I was taking so my situation was probably alot different than someone with RLS.
