Is there any software or any websites where I can grayscale some images that I have on my computer?

You will need a photo-editing software to do this. If you plan to specialize in doing this, and can afford it, Adobe Photoshop is the premium program that will do a million and more things for you.

If you just want to experiment with some basics, Photoshop Elements seems to be popular with some of the photographers that I know who are not graphic designers and have no need for a full fledged program like Photoshop. It is quite inexpensive to purchase also.

Best wishes to you.

The best choice would be to use Adobe Photoshop. It is a very expensive program, but you can do it with most image editing programs, but Photoshop would be the best choice. Some image editing programs may have come with your computer when you got it. There may be a program on your computer such as a Kodak program, these programs will also greyscale an image.

A tip for greyscaling an image is: try NOT to use the Desaturate command (for Photoshop). This function may just make your image pale and it may give it little value. Instead, look on Google for Photoshop Actions (maybe put "greyscale" or "black and white" in the keywords also so you will get the action you need). Although, not all Photoshop actions will provide satisfactory results, some of them may make your image worse then it would look if you had just used the Desaturate command.

Another place to find Photoshop Actions is on deviantart.com, you may go to browse and find the section that has Actions in it. You may also use the search bar on there to find Photoshop Actions, but be sure to give credit to the creator of the action if they have special rules listed in the description of the Action (if you post your image online with the used action).

You may use the Desaturate command if you want to, but I would reccomend NOT using it. But, it is completely up to you.

You may also find imag editors online that work right in your browser, they usually have the basic commands in them, but of course, they will not be as useful as Photoshop.

As for what version of Photoshop you should buy, I would say go with 7, CS2, or CS3. I do not have experiance with any Photoshop below 7, so I would buy one below 7 with caution ... And if you are a student you can get a student version of Photoshop, which is going to be a lot cheeper.

I hope I helped. Photoshop is a very useful program, it is very useful for me as an art student, and it is very useful to anybody!
