the one I knew visited the patients one room at a time to ask if they had any problems or concerns that were not being addressed by the hospital. It could be anything from lousy eggs at breakfast to not having a chaplain to pray with. Many things. Needing extra pillows, noisy nurses at night disturbing sleep. The support rep is there to represent the patient and get things corrected for their comfort.
