Are you supporting fellow Christians by giving them a thumbs up to encourage them in their ministry? I read other believers questions and vote according to the answer being of the truth. To run on to the next question and only care about my own is not doing the Lord's work, it would just be me all about me and an ego of knowledge.
Is this a contest about points or ministry?

There is a lot of value in that statement.
Sometimes I do, sometimes I dont. But then again, if I can answer 20 more Q's versus gives thumbs up and thumbs down, which does more good? I think answering more Q's is more telling because Ive said completely Biblical and good things and have gotten all thumbs down from atheists. And Ive seen things that couldve been written by Satan himself recieve all thumbs up. The thumbs arent telling.
What they should do is have BADGES. Like if youre a Christian, a little cross. And if youre an atheist, like a dollar sign or something. And then they could put by the thumbs label who mostly voted good, and who mostly voted bad.

Sometimes I give them a thumbs up, if they answer thoughtfully and well, and don't just go on a rant about other religions or telling someone they will go to hell. Those kinds of answers don't deserve a thumbs up even if they are a fellow Christian.
If it's truthful or at least an honest effort to tell the truth, I do give a thumbs up.
But I will give a thumbs up to atheists or other faiths, too, if they make a good point, or are particularly witty, which they sometimes are, even if I don't agree with them.

I give thumbs up to good and thoughtful answers, no thumbs to OK answers or answers I don't understand, and thumbs down to bad answers or answers that are completely off topic. Sometimes I give thumbs up for funniness, because sometimes a good laugh is needed. I don't see it as a contest at all. For questions about Christianity, I'm not going to give a thumbs up for anybody who quotes a Bible passage, it also has to answer the question.

I just give thumbs up for good intellectual answers... Honestly... the majority of the christians on here don't know why they believe what they believe... It says that ignorance is no excuse so it's time to start educating ourselves...

I usually give a thumbs up unless its something way off or a Catholic bashing.
I pray everyday for Christian Unity. We all love and serve the same Loving and Merciful God and we love and serve his Glorious Son Jesus, our Savior. Why is it that we can't even talk to each other at times? It makes me so sad.
In Humility,

I give ups and downs based on the quality of the answer.
To throw dogma at people who don't believe that God exists is stupid and pointless, and I will not endorse Christians doing it here and embarrassing my faith.

It's not about 'ministry', it's about ego-stroking.
Matthew, Chapter 25:
"42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. 44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me."
Do you seriously think that sitting in front of a computer and clicking a mouse every time somebody says something you agree with is "doing the lord's work"? Really?
Maybe you need to read your old book some more, you've missed some important parts.
