Here in Alaska, you can hunt if you can pick up a gun, so long as a licensed hunter is with you. My 8 year old son and I will be hunting bear in the spring. His bear will count as part of my limit.
What- a thumbs down. As if I make the law in this state.

20 guage shot gun
.22 rifle
The 22 is not a guage.
It depends on the state. In my state, it was 14, but I believe that they just changed the rules so that anybody can shoot some small game if they have successfully completed a Hunters Ed course. Tell us what state you are in and somebody could answer you more specifically.

Check your states website, there might be laws on the books about it where you live. I started hunting pheasant and rabbits at age 12 with a 20 gauge. I took the hunter safety course, passed it, and learned to shoot my shotgun. I had been target shooting at my Grandma's farm since I was 4. When I could hold both ends off of the ground at the same time, my dad started teaching me how to shoot his .22 rifle.

In Canada you have to be 12. and you have to have your hunter's safety course. This is a 1 day course that kids take on a Saturday to teach them the way to handle a shotgun. Once you learn how to handle a gun correctly, it's not likely you'll forget. I'm going to venture a guess that in the US, the age requirement varies from state to state. Your state laws hold more clout than some National level regulations. Call the NRA, to check laws in your state.

It varies in different states. In Illinois, you have to be 16 to hutn by yourself and any age with a paprent no matter what gun you are usign and just so you know, a .22 is a caliber of a rifle, not the gauge of the shotgun.

Check on a Fish and Wildlife website for your state. The laws are different in each state. But I think it's pretty young. and it's spelled gauge. not gage haha =)

State rules will require you to be a definite age for particular forms of interest. In Colorado 'any age' is the requirement for small interest yet 12 yrs. previous is the requirement for massive interest. yet greater important than age is physique of innovations, length and duty. in case you're waiting to seek and massive adequate to help carry the animal out and in charge adequate to be risk-free with a firearm, then you definitely've purely one greater issue to do. you need to understand why the animals ought to be killed and you need to be waiting to do it. The final 2 are the main confusing. we've been raised to be solid to the cat, the canines, and our pets and easily killing an animal is counter to what we've been taught. it somewhat is whilst the reason the animals ought to be killed would be discovered via awareness animals and their habitat and their desires and their existence span. All this ideas is on your Hunter protection handbook and that's the reason the different solutions all say so which you will attend a Hunter protection class. no longer purely because of the fact that's needed notwithstanding that's to instruct you to be a hunter and understand what your place is in the scheme of wildlife and scientific wildlife administration. solid success and have loads of solid innovations of the cases you have been in the sphere.
