Hair Donation Instructions:

1. Hair must be clean (shampooed and/or conditioned) without styling, hairspray or additional hair products.
2. Gather hair at the nape of the neck.
3. Create a ponytail using an elastic band. Ensure the band is tight around the hair to keep the hair together after cutting. If the hair comes out of the band it will not be usable. (A second hair band can be placed around the middle of the ponytail to help keep the hair together after cutting.)

I heard about the Oprah show today...I gave my hair to Locks of Love before chemo...it's only hair, and it grows back. I bought my wig and wore it only once, but I'm one of those weird women who never cared too much about my hair in the first place. Many of my friends never stepped out of the house w/out their wigs, and I know they're very expensive...many who want them can't afford them. Thank you.

You can find more information for donating hair for adult women at:

And, although well meaning most people fail to realize that Locks of Love is for normal healthy kids who have Alopecia Areata which is NOT cancer. If you want to donate your hair to healthy bald children that is fine. But if you want to honor children who have cancer . . only 3 percent of all kids with cancer get a wig. The reason is because chemotherapy causes short term hair loss of only a few months to a year. The hair on children with cancer grows back. Locks of Love does not give kids with short term hair loss wigs. They never have.

If you want children who have lost hair from cancer to get a wig . . donate to Wigs for Kids:
