Your parents don't approve him for a reason. People will tell you follow your heart and all that crap, but listen. He's done drugs, he's a drinker, he has bad news written all over him. If I were you, I'll dump him. You might think you really like him and all, but believe me, you'll find another guy you like a lot better and he'll be a lot safer.

Think of it rationally and don't be emotional. Keep your head cool. Don't regret it when he manage to drag yourself into disaster and you find out how you didn't really like him that much in the first place

I kind of know what you mean. Thats how it started with the guy I am with now. When we first met we were the same way. He isnt someone that I would normally go for.

I gave him a chance and we have been together 11 months. We live together and everything and I love him more then anything. So you should definatly give him a chance. O yeah and by the way my parents dont really care for my b/f either and we make it work. You just have to try if you like him give him the chance.

Good Luck Girl!

Never mind your parents approval, at some point you will have to think for yourself. Why would you have such low standards? Is this a desperate act or an attempt get attention from your parents? He does drugs and has a drinking problem. Is this your ideal man? probably not. You are mistaken if you think you can change him...and ultimately you will become what he is, unless you move on.

Run! Get a magazine and cut out 200 photos of hot guys who are making great money and looking for girlfriends.
Don't settle for anything less than perfect.
Meanwhile, work on making yourself the best you can be .....
the finer you are, the better kind of guy you will attract.

Remember, you're looking for a husband AND the BEST father you can find for your unborn children.

Haley,
there are lots of those kinds of guys out there. You will like, and maybe even love, some of them. You must learn to let them go, and accept, but refuse to follow your feelings in this case.

Taking drugs and drinking alcohol are poison to a meaningful life. Those men will drag you down, destroy your dreams, and make very little contribution to your happiness. You deserve more -and you are the only one who can assure you get it. It's in your hands. I wish you the best.

Not knowing how old your are, I would caution on the side of just being friends. Listen to your parents on this. Sounds like you may still be in high school and this guy might be older. So, I would suggest leaving the drinking and drugs relationship where it belongs....College. LOL

If i were your parents i wouldn't approve of him either. Drugs really mess up people's lives...he could be sum crazy psyco maniac or sumthing... And drinking is really bad too. If you dated him and he like died of over dose, or drunk driving... how would you feel...and if he didnt die from that...wouldn't you always be worrying? just forget about him, find another guy. he's not the only guy out there 4 ya, u kno.

You have a crush. You don't have to act on it. Obviously no one can force you to make decisions that are good for you, but it sounds like you already know a relationship with him wouldn't be a good idea. Otherwise you wouldn't be asking us.

I'd hold out for someone better who I could honestly respect.

Why would you want to date someone that is the opposite of your type? Opposites rarely attract in real life, that's just a myth.

i wouldnt do it, he could drag you down the road that he has been on and is on right now. Stick to your type, i know that they say opposites attract, but I dont believe that i believe that we attract what we are or what we are trying to get!
