Such as when someone says, "God, if you will just let me have X, I will do Y."

Worldbroad, well, I guess that's an example of what I'm talking about, any bargain, really.

If you mean like when people are dying and they offer to go to church or live right if God will keep them from dying, I'm not sure if it is wrong, but I guess it seems like a good idea at the time.

Oh that is a definite no no. Why? Because God is God, period. He is not interested in making deals, He says "this is the deal." The deal is throughout His word, plain and simple. He is the potter, we are the clay. The clay doesn't tell the potter how to do his job or negotiate, the clay is at the mercy of the potter. You can't bargain with the creator of heaven and earth. He has all power and authority. Nowhere in His word does he offer leeway for bargaining, only obedience. In His presence is the fullness of joy that adds no sorrow. It's a wonderful thing. Please don't fall victim to the humanistic false doctrines being taught around the country. God's no bellhop, genie, or cosmic wimp wringing His hands in heaven hoping you'll do what He asks. Read the book :-) He says, I am God and I changeth NOT. We obey God in reverence and love. He says it; we do it. We have NO right or authority to negotiate or bargain. I hope this is clear. I love the person who talked about the farmer asking for a harvest before planting; it's the gospel truth. Remember that God's far more concerned with what happens IN you than what happens TO you or AROUND you.

Depends on the deal you are doing. If you can get a good house for 5 pounds then Its a good bargain.

Go read Genesis 18-19 and Judges 6-7 to see examples of two of God's greatest servants (Abraham and Gideon) doing exactly that--bargaining with God. Then get back to us.

When I was a practicing theist, I always thought that kind of thinking, was rather like blasphemy and belittling god. Afterall, he already knows the problem you are in, he doesn't need you to tell him. Again, he already knows what needs fixing in your life, and he doesn't have to hurt others to get you to listen either.
He has better things to do, and he knows what is best. So why bother. Let his will be done. (It will anyhow)...

You have to be out of your mind to bargain with the Christian God. Does the bible not say "seek and you shall find" "Ask and it shall be given to you" so why bargain? Kind of stupid to me. The bible does not say what you ask for is conditional.

Bargaining....sounds more like manipulating, but then, you don't say exactly what the bargain is, so I can't say for absolute sure.

If a god existed, it would be no different than bargaining with a demon. Both would just be after your soul.
