After some 40yrs riding m/cycles and driving cars, I conclude that the best way to cut the road toll is to have better drivers. That means weeding out the existing dangerous fools and making sure no more replace them. Frequent retesting of licenses is essential, physicals, mental testing, drug testing, everything possible to keep drivers awake and thinking about their driving-no radios, no mobiles, no distractions, no drugs-unless prescription and approved, no alcohol, no tobacco, separate seats, compulsory seat belts, not too comfortable, frequent reminders of the ultimate price of innattention or inanity. Driving is NOT a RIGHT, nor a RITE, but must be refused the incompetent, the addicted and the law breaking.
