Kind of. I remember hearing once about this lady who sat in a car with the window down, and she had some of those tubes in the backseat. One ended up exploding and the pop hit her head and so did some dough, and she thought she thought she was shot and that her brains were flowing out. Which has nothing to do with anything.

Oh yeah!
I was opening a tube of cinnamon rolls once and as the can popped open, the can of icing flew out and hit my dog who was sleeping right in the nose. Poor thing!
Every time after that if anyone opened anything that resembled that kind of can, she would run an hide under the bed.
True story!

If they didn't make such good dumplings, I would probably never buy them for that reason. I just put on a brave face and deal with the pop. After they are open I always think that was no big deal but the fear comes back before each opening.

YES! Ever since I was little, I've been afraid of the damn things. It's just startling every time, because you never know exactly when it's going to pop.
(By the way, I heard the same story about the lady in the car. What a thing to happen!)

I do hate to open those nasty tubes. If someone else is nearby, I let them do it, otherwise, I get out a spoon, close my eyes and hope it pops on the first hit.
If anyone finds a scientific name for this type of phobia, I would love to know it!

I hate those tubes of terror... just the thought of them makes my stomach clench. Of course, they're not as loud as a gunshot or a firecracker, but it's the waiting.......waiting.....waiting that's unbearable. I do like to pop balloons, however. I don't have any explanation for this dichotomy, but it is what it is.

I always flinch. Sometimes I bang them on the edge of the counter real hard so that the sound of the banging is louder than the popping open is. Don't know why that is. It reminds me of popping a balloon or opening champagne.

I love the taste, but when I get rolls similar to Pillsbury (can´t get them in Germany) I ask my husband to break open the can. It scares me too!

I just peel the label back just enough, then I SMACK IT on the edge of the counter so they pop open. Then those biscuits know I'M IN CHARGE. After all, they're just biscuits...they don't control me.
