I'm writing a book and I'd like to include some passages from the Bible. I already have Deuteronomy 6, 10-13 and Numbers 16 8-10, but it'll be a rather long book which focuses around greed quite a bit.

In 2Kings chapter 5 is a very short and fitting story that tellsof greed. Very briefly, the story goes that even if the master, in this case Elisha, refused to received gifts from Naaman, an Aramean general who was cured of leprosy by God through Elisha, the prophet's servant Gehazi went after the general and solicited a talent of silver and two new garments purportedly for some young men from the community of prophets... Maybe it's also a story about corruption.

Keep the Sabbath day holy - God said this because He knew that businessmen would taste money and start to work 24/7/365 if He didn't tell them not to - and that kind of work ruins the family unit.

Do not covet - be happy for others in what they have and learn to be content with what you have - or you'll get ulcers.

Tithing - learn to be a "giver" and it'll be more profitable in the long run. I can live better on 90% of what God and I make together than on 100% of what I can make on my own.

Theres a verse in the new testament somewhere tha I love it talks about not showing favouritism to those who are wealthy. It says not to give them the best seats and then give the less wealthy people the worse seating. It says something about how you have become that you are entertaiing wicked thougghts or something like that. There is an online concordance on biblegateway.com

I found some by googling "God's promises about greed" and I would post them myself but I hate the superlong posts that are just cut and pasted.
