Is it possible??? Or would it be a wasted effort out of desperation??? I really want to get into the Air Force and this whole "specific MOS-qualified prior service personnel only" BS is getting old... If someone wants to get in so bad that they would contemplate throwing away their prior service record it should mean something to the recruiter to at least attempt to accomodate that person... RIGHT???

You guys are too pessimistic, where'd the "mental problems" comment even come from??? Anyways, thanks for the 1/2 *** input, at least one answer is from a reliable resource (AF recruiter).

If you were prior service and denied being so, then I would think that when they do a backgroung check they would pick that up right away...remember...all the branches do a full background check on new enlistees

The AF is facing cuts of 40,000 personnel and they have waiting lists trying to get in. You'll probably have better luck with a branch of the service that is more anxious for recruits.

First, assume you made it past MEPs check and got in... great... but the second you go for your clearance (since, remember that posing as a new troop means you'd have to apply for one again) they're going to find out you lied. Now, fraud to enter the military is a UCMJ offense, and you'll go to courts martial. There's no mitigating reason for the lie you propose, so you'll be dishonorably discharged... and you should know that a dishonorable discharge is like a felony: no votes, no fire arms, and you're legally required to disclose it every time you apply for a job.

The REASON they want MOS (actually, AFSC) specific candidates has to do with funding. You might not know it, but even if you're strictly infantry you've already had tens of thousands of dollars worth of training. To come in again pretending to be a fresh recruit means you would require tens of thousands all the way up to 100K dollars in new technical training. That's a waste considering you've already gotten a ride on the tech school express. If the Air Force doesnt need you (because we're cutting back on certain career fields) i suggest you look at other options, particularly the navy.

Don't lie to get in, it goes against military values and you'll regret it because (especially in this case) you'll get caught

won't do a lick of good.. your social security number is already on file and the minute they enter it into t he computer, it will pop up with all of your PS information for all the world to see.

sure, you can try and commit FRAUD, but then when you get caught, then what?

the AF doesn't need you, so why should they go out of their way to make a slot for you where there isn't one? you aren't that special.

Remember that DD-214? Coming in as prior service or as a new recruit that pesky form will crop up and you will be in trouble.

Cant lie your way in, they check every detail of your past and if not when you go in, when you get a security clearance they will be digging stuff up from when you were 5 years old and peed your pants in your kindergarden class... not possible. And then if you get caught in a lie... I wouldnt want to be you.

dude you obviously don't know the government. they would know by your ssn that you have been in and what you did. If you rejoin you should be able to pick any job you qualify for.

It would mean that you have mental problems, and, therefore are undesirable.
