Mom, please hang in there! In 1985 I was diagnosed with
terminal breast cancer and my daughters were 7 yrs, 3yrs and
8mos old. I was recently devorced. I won't tell you that it is
easy, but hang in there. You can go to social services and
social security and see what they can do for you. If you know
how to crochet or knit, winter time is now coming and you can
sell to the hospital gift shop. I had to learn to crochet hats and
scarfs and sell make-up. If your daughter is a patient at the
hospital usually the gift shop will allow you to place your stuff
on consignment. What state do you live in and maybe I can
find a way to help out? I'm a cancer survivor twice so if anyone can help, I can! you can contact me at : rladyofthewind
@yahoo.com. I'd be very pleased to help out.
Renee

American Cancer Society may be able to help. Neighbors, and friends. She may have to make her circle of friends bigger, and do some bartering with people so that she won't feel as though she is taking advantage of people. If she has a talent for something, like baking or sewing, something like that she can make things for people in exchange for rides and what ever she made need.

It's interesting, people tend to think that charity is a way of the past, but there are still plenty of people with hearts bigger than you can imagine. We just don't hear about the good news of the world, but it still happens every day, and I am sure that she will find more people than she will know that will be more than willing to help out.

The American Cancer Society can provide transportation to and from where ever she is getting treatment. A medical social worker, perhaps in a hospital could discuss other resources that may help them.

She needs to talk with her daughters medical social worker as they often know about local, state, and federal assistance programs. Each state should have a Children with Special Needs program that will cover all medical expenses. As for the mother trying to support herself and daughter, she should qualify for other various programs as well.
