When I worked at a fire engine plant in Florida, we needed a Class A CDL to test drive the trucks. Weight of the vehicle was the main reason plus air brakes. I was told that in an emergency, anyone can drive the trucks TO the fire, but only a licensed driver (CDL) could drive it back to the station. I doubt you can operate the firetruck legally, for 60 days. Insurance would be part of the problem.

If the fire truck weighs less than 26,001 lbs you can drive it on a class C, also check you Georgia laws, if I'm not mistaken in NC you can drive a fire truck during an actual call on any license. That may be a federal DOT regulation but I've been out of the biz for a while.
