Paul said, "... for as often as you eat this loaf and drink this cup, you keep proclaiming the death of the Lord, until he arrives." (1Cor 11:26). If Christ arrived in 1914, why do Jehovah's Witnesses continue to partake of the bread and wine? Shouldn't they have stopped in 1914?

The difficulty with the JW teaching that Christ's second coming (sorry, presence) happened invisibly in 1914 is that if he is supposed to arrive "in the fullest sense when he comes as Jehovah's judge and executioner at Armageddon" (as one JW answer said), then that must mean there is yet to be a THIRD coming!!!!!!! Wow! That's news to me!

I suspect the real reason they continue to partake of the bread and the wine (only once every year) is to give credence to those who claim to be of the elite anointed class, the remnants of the 144,000 whom they say will go to heaven. Given that only a tiny fraction of JW's claim to be in the new covenant, and that millions of them have been excluded, then they might as well have stopped in 1914.

Because there is still a need to "proclaim the death of the Lord" even today.

He arrives in the fullest sense when he comes as Jehovah's judge and executioner at armageddon.

(were you really ever a jw if you didn't understand that?)

Let it go, I bought into that literature too. It sounds so convincing, but it can really create a lot of strife between the family. I preached to people about the "truth", only to find later that I was wrong. It was a hard reality check, learning that what I believed was not what I perceived it to be. Step back and try and find peace of mind.

It is a dangerous cult that does not seem to think that they have to use reason to explain there problems in beliefs. it is the same with the mormon cult. ask them about the golden plates and the slaughter of a wagon train which killed women and children for no reason and see what they say.
