When I first started lifting about 2 years ago I started off with a little protein powder but I kinda quit with it. Since then I have taken Creadrive, NoExplode, NoVapor, etc.

But some people are telling me to switch to protein. Now I am smart and I know they are like to different things completely. But which one would you recommend straight up if you had to choose? I want to gain muscle mass. I am almost 21, 6'1", 165 lbs. and I am athletic. I play tennis and run a lot.

Also, if I go to protein do you recommend just whey protein?
Thanks guys.

What is the best kind of protein to take? Just regular whey protein? But the brand?

I would recommend protein since muscle feed off protein for fuel. The more muscle you gain, the more protein it takes to maintain them. Talk to your doctor, or a nutritionist to set the recommended amount to start off with so you are not taking to much, then just slightly adjust the amount as you start to notice gains in muscle mass

Creatine and Protein are two different building blocks. Protein is essential in order for your muscles to gain mass or anything for that matter. Creatine is what can help you reach this goal much faster and chances are, much more successfully. The combination of the two is what makes them so beneficial. However, if you had to choose one of the two, i'd say protein. Protein is the one thing your muscles NEED in order to experience growth, whereas creatine is just an assistant.

Another possibility could be to take creatine via supplement, and get protein naturally, through meats, dairy, etc.

EDIT// Protein - I recommend: Whey Protein Gold Standard.

Protein. Doesn't matter what kind. Creatine gets excreted from hte body very easily. Caffeind increases creatine excretion. Not so with protein.
