Do the cables come with the system or do i have to buy them separate?

Can i play the games and watch dvd on HD right out of the box or do i have to buy extra stuff?

I have an HDTV if that helps.

No cables do not come, you need to buy Component cables or HDMI cables. Component are cheaper and they work for 720p and i think 1080i. If you want "true" HD then you want HDMI cables. But all this depends on your TV, probably you only have a 720p/1080i TV so you wont get the "True" HD, but the difference if barely noticable. Also the HDMI cables upscale DVDs to HD, so that will make your viewing experience better. Therefore you cannot watch HD right out of the box, you need to buy either Component cables or HDMI cables.

You have to buy HDMI cables, and DVD's aren't HD, Blu Ray Disc Movies are HD though.

since you have a HDTV all you have to do is to pick up a HDMI cable then your all set for best quality pictures. the ps3 upscales DVDs to HD resolutions but you need to update the system firmware for this to happen.
