Will the tattoos bring you glory or will they bring God glory, when it goes against His will?

If you want to get a tattoo without compromising yuor faith, I would firstly suggest asking your priest, however I do not beleive the Catholic church has any issues with tattoos. In the end it is your decision. If you do choose to get a tattoo be very careful when you pick your design because unless you get it painfully and expensively removed or covered you will have it for the rest of your life, even when your old an wrinkly so choose the location carefully and make sure the place you are getting tattooed at is clean, and that the needles are sanitary. Also view a sample of his work on somebody else. Just because he/she did a good job on paper doesn't mean he/she will do a good job on you.

Do not lacerate your bodies for the dead, and do not tattoo yourselves. I am the LORD. (Leviticus 19:28)
For Christians, Jesus fulfilled the Law of Moses. Christians are not held to the ceremonial parts of the Mosaic Law concerning of dietary purity and temple worship to which this verse belongs.
I can find no Catholic teaching against tattoos.
However a point to ponder:
You are a masterpiece work of art, created in the image and likeness of the artist, God.
Would you go up to Leonardo Da Vinci's painting "The Last Supper" and try to "improve" it by adding your own touches here and there?
With love in Christ.

im christian and I have my lip pierced.
I see nothing wrong with it. People will bring up Lev. 19 ( ?) on the fact that God states your body is your temple which is true. But if you also read in Genesis, there were people who had their noises pierced and actually sold body jewelery. I cannot think of the Chapter but when I read this, I was a bit shock. And they weren't characters that didn't believe in the divine power of God.
I think if it is meaningful, it can be a way of evangelizing. I know a ton of Christians who have tattoos all over but the one that always sticks out is the cross.
Also, I don't think you need to ask your priest. If anything, just pray about it.

this is going to be something you need to pray on. you can take from leveticus from the OT but then mention where it is not mentioned again in the NT. while i would recommend talkigng to your pastor or decon or even call your local seminary.... we are taught in the Rcc tht God created our bodies for His works on this earth once we accept Christ. By accepting CChrist (which if you are Catholic you've done) you want to live your life in a manner befitting your relationship with Christ and your respect for the life God gave you....
i can't tell you what's right or wrong for you -- this will be your call. just make sure your deicsion is wise - the removal process is painful, expensive and leaves a bit of a reverse scar!

Nothing I'm aware of in the Catholic Church is against tattooing. Certain Judaic Sects forbid it - I think because of the OT passage one of the other posters here alluded to.
You might not want to get one on the small of your back - it can cause problems when you're delivering a baby (with the epidural).

I'm not aware of any biblical proscription of tattooing. I know Judaism forbids it, but there's nothing in the New Testament about it.
Any Christians out there with a specific verse about it?

Underneath that harmless tattoo is a very serious risk of acquiring a deadly blood-borne disease such as AIDS, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, tetanus, syphilis, tuberculosis and other blood-born diseases.
So be carefull.
Here are some facts:

well, think on the people with tatoos and piercings - are they bad people? do you think they do not think their bodies are temples?
i have three piercings, and i think my body is my temple. i hold myself most high and i don't think i'm going to hell. i may not be the most religious person, but i pray a lot more than most people do and i reflect more on what good i do rather than how good people see me. i think god would appreciate that more.
jsut don't be lame and get a crucifix with christs image on it please. i always thought that was tacky. maybe the numbers of your favorite verse somewhere, the name of a lost loved one, family crest, things like that. nothing that you will think looks chlidish when you are an adult.
