Good timing on this question...God timing!
My father-in-law went home TODAY!
Three years ago, doctor's gave him about 3 months to live. This was 2 years before I had met him...and married his precious daughter.
He was a pastor, and had very recently shared this:
He once had a pet dog that was crazy for tennis balls - he'd fetch them indefinitely, so long as your arm could take it. You could hold him back with a leash and hurl the ball out into a large field. Oftentimes, he wouldn't even watch where you threw the ball. You were unsure whether it was because he was dumb...or had other plans of joy. For after the ball was hurled far away, then he would take off. It was almost impossible to hold him back with a leash, at this point...for he was on a mission! His nose to the ground, whimpering with excitement, tail wagging, he would nearly pull you right off your feet! Finally, when you released him, he would surge out into the field, sniffing, wagging, excited, with a one-track mind - sweeping back and forth through the field, joyously hunting for the ball! Even if it took a long time, nothing could distract him from his object...until he finally reached it!
My father-in-law's church, his friends, and family all prayed earnestly and faithfully for him to be miraculously healed of cancer. And throughout it all, he always held to "not my will, but yours be done...whatever will bring YOU the most glory, dear Lord!"
Through his battle with cancer and thinking and praying about what would bring God more glory - whether to miraculously heal him, or not - one scripture spoke deeply to him:
Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child.
-Psalm 131:2
His relationship with God grew so intimate, that he was as a weaned child. In other words, he was not - like a weaning child - dependent upon God for what God could do for him (i.e. heal him), but was still and quiet...and content, whether God healed him, or not. (i.e. Phil 4:11-13)
And then he was like that dog...EARNESTLY desiring to go home...and it was, as if, the prayers of others for him to be healed were like the leash that held him back from his object - Jesus Christ, in heaven.
God did grant him a very fruitful last 3 years as he finished pastoring at 2 churches, saw his daughter get married, got to know and deeply impact his son-in-law (me), and make some final edits on a book he was writing - all in miraculously good health and strength with almost no pain or discomfort! This past weekend, while visiting, he testified that he felt he had accomplished all the work that the Lord had given him to do.
Then, his body quickly gave out over the course of a few short days...and TODAY, God freed him from that leash so that he could finally go home to be with Him forever!
Praise be to the Lord Jesus Christ!
May HIS name be glorified in all the earth!
Precious in the sight of the Lord are the death of his saints!
-Psalm 116:15
Better is the day of one's death then the day of one's birth!
-Ecclesiates 7:1
-
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain! -Phil 1:21
Dying...is a dispatching of a Christian to PARADISE - to FINALLY see Him, our ultimate joy, face to face!
Oh...how I LONG for Him to come again...or Him to take me home.
Nevertheless, as with Paul then, so to now is it more needful for others that I abide in the flesh...so I know that I shall abide and continue with others all for their furtherance and joy of faith!
Let us rejoice in so great a salvation!
I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed- in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."
"Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?"
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
-1 Corinthians 15:50-58

I am so looking for the day that I step through the gates of pearls, walk on streets of gold, touch the walls of jasper. I've got a mansion just over the hilltop in that bright land where we will never grow old. I can not wait to sit down by the river with loved ones gone before. But don't look for me at any of these places because I will be sitting at the feet of my Savior praising and thanking Him for those 3 human made items in Heaven the nail pieced hands and feet along with the hole from the spear thrust in His side. Ow that will be glory for me.

Dear Edge ...
I want to stand before my Lord and Judge entirely emptied out, having given all that I can give and completed all that He wants me to do here on earth. If that is tomorrow, I am ready. If it is His will that I remain until this body shuts down in extreme old age, then I am ready for that too. I pray only that His will be done ... and that the last name I speak aloud is His, as my final witness.
The peace of Christ be with you always.

There are many times when I can't wait, but I find that looking at those times, it is usually for selfish reasons, like right now when I am in so much physical pain for whatever is going on that the doctors have not found.
While I do long to be my Lord, I focus on His will and pray that He give me strength and endurance for whatever He has planned for me, and that He give me a heart of obedience and love to shine and give glory to Him.
God bless

God is cleaning up the body of Christ and healing it because it has been sick for soooo long ! I encourage all to hear what the Spirit is saying to the church, and seek God with all the heart, while there is time...

If you ask Him, God will make his home with you and in you right now. And you can be at home right now and you don't have to wait. Life happens today, right now, and you don't have to wait until after you die to find it. Just ask Jesus Christ for life today and read The Revelation, not from a point of view as seeing it as something that happens in the future, but as something that is happening right now. Basically what I am saying is that if you look for it you can find heaven right now.

God asks us to be ready because we do not know the time. I submit to His will for us. I think He is waiting for more people to love Him.
