Before any of you start going off on me about this question, let me explain.
I was down at Caser's Palace wondering around when I found a Hindu or Buddhist shrine. Seem like MGM went out of there way to please their Asian customer from importing it from Bangkok, Thailand.
Anyway, I was talking to some man there while I was burning incense for the shrine.
I was talking about religion with him and he said that Christianity was like an occultic practice.
However, I don't know what to think about that.
So what do you think he meant by that?

I have heard stories about the catholic church putting hits out on people, but I am not sure if this is true or not.

Technically, no ... because the word "occult" means hidden and christianity is, by definition, a revealed religion.

The answer to your question is that many people don't like what they are unfamiliar with. Just like there is racial bigotry and national bigotry, so there is also religious bigotry -- and one of the ways that religious bigots express themselves is by aying that other religions are "sorcery" or "black magic" or "occultism" -- that is, something not approved by a genuine body of religious clerics. In the USA we hear all the time that "Voodoo is Black Magic" -- but it is actually the state religion of the nation of Benin in Africa and a majority rligion in the African diasporic nation of Haiti. When i was a kid, growing up in California, my Christian school friends used to say that Jews are Witches. I'm Jewish, and it used to sound so weird to me -- but they were just ignorant, that's all/ So you ran into some ignorant Hindus or Bhuddists who have an equally low opinion of Christianity. (Sigh.) The world is full of religious bigots. In my opinion, the best thing to do it to smile, say, "Maybe if you get to know a few you'd change your mind," and walk away.

Q: What do these have in common:
cult (occult)
religion
myth
A: Time
All beliefs (i.e. not based on fact) as cults. Once established, they become a religion. The established religion(s) claim all others are false and they are cults (occults). After a long time passes, the religion becomes myth. Repeat ad infinitum.
To re-state, to squash the competition, all established religions claim all others are cults. Therefore, all beliefs are cults/occults as seen from the people not in that belief.
QED.

Gypsy's glass is 1/2 full.
The knowledge of good and evil is exactly God's knowledge. We all have God's knowledge!
Since it's God that lets us know right from wrong, it's really God that we are ever supposed to trust in full. He has the final say. He reveals all the truth to us.
God speaks His truth to us. Churches are supposed to help us find our way to Him, but for many of us they make us doubt the truth of Him that we have inside.
When you know God, through His Holy Spirit, it's amazing how you can find the truth in scripture, and very easy to understand why you have previously doubted God.
Can you now understand the relationship between the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and know that they are one?
Christianity is not a cult, but beware of the churches preaching blasphemies of His truth, that lead people into doubt.

Well, occult means hidden. Religion is in no way a hidden anything. Atheists and other non-christian groups are always calling us "those flaming Christians", "Holy Rollers", etc. Anyway, any religion that doesn't worship the One and only true and living God, Jesus Christ,. They will go to Hell. We must pray but also be a bold witness. That is why God gives us the Holy Ghost, if we will but ask.

Here's my take on Catholicims and Christianity the true worship of Satan
It's as simple as the story of Eve... The churches have long condemned Eve.. calling her evil.... Blaming her for the original sin... the sin is described symbolically the eating of the apple.. meaning she took in knowlege of GOOD and EVIL... Now the definition of good and evil has been a long standing christian/catholic tradition.... that which went against the church refered to as sin.... But eventually we have to see what goes on in the world to get a glimpse of what that could mean.... As humans developed , they became to reason right and wrong.. outside the church... I call this the evolution of the human conscience..... And as they develloped laws according to their conscience they often found themselves in opposition of the church.. for as right and wrong became apparent to the regular people of the world, it often reflected opposite to that of the definitions of good and evil according to the church... for example... murder... the church was quite content to murder people of different races because they fought slavery of their people... the church also was quick to murder or torture those who refused to beleive in their god or practice their religion... All the good laws of freedom, equality, peace, environmental protection, against cruelty, protection of children... each and every one of these laws are instituted through human conscience not religion..... so knowleged of good and evil is a sin because it exposes the church as EVIL when compared to the human conscience... which evolved through the natural process... or our natures the one thing the church is quick to condemn us for...
