I do not see anything weird about it. When I was 15 I dated a 17 year old....

Maybe it is the fact that the 17 year old will be 18 soon and that seems to send some people into the "oh my goodness, this could be against the law...." kinda of mentality

I must say that there seems to be this belief that it is ILLEGAL for someone to DATE someone under the age of 18 if the other is 18+. This is not true. It is legal. The only part where legal or illegal comes into play is if sex is involved, if the younger person makes an allegation (or the parents make an allegation) that it was rape or non-consentual sex, etc. But it is not illegal.

Sammi.. There is very little that a 17 year old wants from a 15 year young lady other than the booty. Been there done that in my teens. 17 year old guys are after only 1 thing... at the age of 18 your relationship becomes Molestation if he touches you sexually regardless of your state laws. There is a reason and its not the man is keeping him down or because popo is loco or any of the lame excuses that might come up. Its because at 15 or 16 you are mentally and emotionally still a child. At 18.. men are too stupid to know better, and lack certain morals that keep us out of trouble.

I would be very disappointed in my daughter if this was what was going on in her life and would probably have an in depth conversation with his parents regarding the actions I would take.

I know you don't want to hear what I am saying, and you will probably just blow me off as some old guy... But you have soooo much of your life ahead of you... you can be anything and do anything... don't mess it up with a guy who in the end will leave you within a year or two for other women. Most men under the age of 25 are mentally and socially retarded. Why do you think car insurance is so high for men under 25.

News flash.. cuz that young we are stupid and like to argue that we aren't.

No more weird than for a 23 year old to date a 35 year old. Or can they only date other 23 year olds?

The people that claim it's illegal are asuming that all dating relationships involve adult intimacy.

When I was 7, I had a 9 year old girlfriend. She beat up anyone in my class that messed with me. She wasn't real smart but she could kick butt.

We never even kissed...that would have been yuck.

Nah, it's common, but once the 17 year old is 18, then it gets a little sticky. The age restrictions are there to protect young kids from being exploited by adults. Just play it cool and don't make drama out of it. You'll be so much better off that way.

i just turned 16...the oldest i have gone i about 5 years older.

honestly..i dont think age matters. i know people are going to give you crap and think you are a *lut but its wrong to think that everyone who dates someone older is sleazy..i know for one that the last thing i am is a *lut.
just keep in mind he could get in trouble or you can too.
you take a lot of risks when you date someone older and his life is always a lot different and hes more experienced in everything.
people usually draw the line when one of you is 18 and the other is below that, because its against the law.
just know that you are in for possible heartbreak and you may face different problems than you would if you were dating someone your age.
good luck! =]

It's not weird, I am 15 and my boyfriend is 17. I'm turning 16 in February and he is not turning 18 until next September.

Personally I don't see anything wrong with it, but it'll be illegal before long. That said, I was in the exact same situation, 15/16 and dated a guy a couple years older than I was for a while, and nothing ever happened. As long as your parents are cool with it, you should be fine.

Its okay. Its not against the law right now anyways, you'll only be "breaking the law" for like one month lol. Two years is not a far distance. Especially When your young. You see older people now adays being over ten years apart. Now thats a little strange. But not only two years.
