I have an antique revolver but i am having trouble finding its value. It is a Smith & Wesson .32 revolver with a serial #38034. If there is anyone out there who might know the value, please answer. It is very important.

One of the things that makes it hardest to approximate value of a firearm is lack of detail.

Photos are a big help also.

And is it a single-action revolver, or a double-action revolver? Does the barrel tip up, or does the barrel and cylinder break open in a downward direction? Or does it have a swing out cylinder? Is there a triggerguard or does it have a spur trigger? Is it engraved? Is it blued, or nickle-plated? Are the grips wooden, rubber, mother of pearl, or engraved silver? Is there a model name or number on the firearm?

Lots of details are needed to have any chance of guessing a reasonable ballpark value for your revolver. And remember, any price quoted on the Internet is a guestimate, even from a qualified appraiser. That is because unless the gun is in hand for examination, there are too many details that can be missed in photos. To get a truly accurate appraisal, you need to put the revolver into the hands of a qualified appraiser.

is it a S&W or a H&R? it can't be both, and there's a significant price value between a S&W and H&R. H&R made budget-line revolvers from the 30s to 1988 9when the company folded- the current H&R is not related to the old H&R) S&W is a well known, top-quality revolver & handgun manufacturer based in the USA. old H&R revolvers typically vary from $35 to $125 depends on condition and whether it's rare or not (very few H&R's are rare) old S&W's are typically $300+. so long as it's in good condition it'll probably fetch $300+ in a private sale situation. you will not get that much in a store (typically 50% of it's value), and you will get he worst deal from pawn shops, typically 25% to 30%. you can get more information if yo take the revolver to a gun store and ask them about it. most *real* gun stores have this book that has every gun ever made listed in it, a brief background on the gun or company, and the gun's approximate value.

You could try www.smith-wesson.com. It may cost a few pennies but they'll give you the complete history and value of the revolver. Hope that helps...
