Runaway Bay is very close to the ship. You can do as th other member suggested and do the cab. Or if your a little hesitant most cruise lines have the excursion available for around $20-$30 P.P. There is a restaurant/bar on the beach. They also rent out jet ski's $40 for half hour. Beautiful, warm water.

Nothing too near the dock. But we went to Dickenson Beach for the day. It was one of the most beautiful beaches in the whole Caribbean. There are also free restroom facilities. We hired a taxi on our own. Be sure to negotiate the price of the taxi before you get in. They pressure you into the cab and then tell you an expensive price. On the plus side they did not charge us until the return trip ( they were right on time for pickup) so we were assured that they would pick us up.

I took a nice tour of the island, and saw the old harbor, with all the wooden 1800 style ships.
Just take a beach excursion, Antigua is known for having many beaches.

Listen to Dusie. She gave you the correct information. If you give the cabbie a time to return, they do return right on time. Dickenson Bay is gorgeous. It's the beach Sandals Grande is located on.
Enjoy)
