As a thought exercise could you this instant, should you choose, completely lose your faith and disbelieve God? Would you be able to actively believe at will that he doesn't exist?

Aaaaah, Pangel and Molly......I was that obvious, eh?
It's probably a question worthy of a *drink*, but I was genuinly curious. If other people have reached this conclusion, then I am just trying to figure out what the point of forceful conversion and religious terrorism is. Or even why many Christians try to be so vitriolic in their arguments against atheists, and so adamant that their views are obviously right.
Incidentally, I claim immunity via agnosticism. Please don't throw things....

been there done that
but no .. at this present time , I couldnt disbelieve what I believe
if this is in some way an attempt to prove why Atheists dont believe in God .... then I understand why they dont
you cant force yourself to believe something that makes no sense to you
edit
hey it is a valid question ..... because some people do honestly believe you can just flick on the God switch

I guess some people could. And choose too. And blame him for everything that happens to them. But if they do not believe Who! are they Blaming and why?
Some people might even be asking to convince themselves because they are not sure? And are questioning, And I do think we should Question, What we do not understand. Just my thoughts.

I'm sure they will all say 'no', in which case your next question could be 'so why do you think non-Christians can CHOOSE to believe in Jesus as our Saviour etc etc'
ETA: Kudos Pangel!

I'm agnostic but you can't make yourself believe nor disbelieve.
Suppose I wanted to believe a kangaroo was sitting in front of me, no matter how hard I try I can't make myself believe it.
Or suppose a spouse wants to believe his/her partner is not having an affair even though his/her other half is unfaithful, he/she can't rid those beliefs.

Interesting question, but - no. It's like asking me to suddenly make myself believe my .. searching for good example here... liver doesn't exist. I can't see it, but I simply KNOW it's there. I don't question that and could never make myself believe otherwise. It just is.

You're asking me to suppose 2 + 2 do not make 4.
It does, doesn't it?

My dear agnostic ones,
There is no proof what it (the demonstrative 'that' – the living entity) exists is real (exists), versus there is no proof what it doesn't exists is real too.

No, I couldn't do it. I guess if I could I would be an atheist and not a Christian.
