You need to identify how many students will participate, how often (just once? once a week? once a month?), and if it must all happen as a group or if students can participate in different activities, as they like. Then, a representative of your school needs to call your local United Way, to find out what group volunteering options are available. If students can volunteer in small groups or individually, then have students search through VolunteerMatch.org for opportunities. Remember that looking for a volunteering opportunity is like looking for a job in that you must apply more than once and knock on a lot of doors before you find what you are looking for.

The salvation army does more than I always thought they did. Saint Judes hospital and the Shriners who are there for burn victims are among my favorite charities. Or any organization that helps single moms or children.

Anything that has to do with domestic and child abuse. I am certain that your local shelters would give you the moon and stars for the financial help, clothing help and hygiene help.
