It's a Hole / Pole thing. Humans are designed for a male/female interface, by nature. Anything else can't be natural. There are cases where homosexuality is observed in animals, Monkeys in particular are practitioners of this as well, so humans aren't alone in this behavior. It could be a case of nature producing random variances in hormones and drives, but of course, only the ones which "naturally" make sense will survive and procreate to make more, so a M/M or F/F joining will never produce a solid evolutionary offshoot.
Plus, a male pen(is) and a female va(gina) are naturally made for each other, so any other interaction just can't be considered evolutionarily "Normal" by any means. Love, ie emotional love, is a transcendent thing, and I won't by any means say a man can't love a man, and a woman a woman, but physical sex between the two exclusively is abnormal and not supported by evolutionary pressures. They will eventually die and not produce offspring, so they won't pass on any such behaviours to their young, if it's possible. I have no idea if it is or not.
So, that is my personal believe on normal vs. abnormal behavior. Whether it's "right" or not is up to the people involved, and societal pressures ( and perhaps the Medical profession, if it's found to be a hormonal imbalance or some such genetic deviation occurring to cause it ). Anyway, that's my opinion, and I'm stickin' to it.

Well, let's put it this way. In the view of Christians, evolution is a falsehood. So, the news flash bit of your question may piss some of them off. Secondly, according to the Bible homosexuality is a sin. Though you could argue that Jesus never once condemned or accepted it. Also, you can see this point. Jesus taught to love all. Not just the brothers and sisters of the faith, but the sinners. Did Jesus not dine with sinners?(check the Bible) So, Christians harping about homosexuality is a bit against the faith in my opinion. However, grouping all Christians as hating people of said sexual orientation is silly. It's like saying a black man mugged me so all blacks are evil muggers. Like I heard once hate the sin and love the sinner.

No, your point on evolution. Tell me where it fits. Evolution is a process to further the said race/species along. How can that happen with homosexuality? I'm not dissing or slamming homosexuality. Just how would a man and man or woman and woman produce a child? hence, evolving the species.

My advice. Read up on things before using them as a point in a arguement.

Animals often exhibit homosexual behavior. The deal is that Christians want to tame the "animal" within and be led by Christ and his teaching, like the Bible versus being led by the carnal and sensual nature within us all. They are saying that homosexuality is "unnatural" to a Christian lifestyle. Evolution is not really a good example for homosexual behavior as it would limit the species. Also homosexuals tend to have a higher suicide rate than the general population. Pooping in the woods is natural, in door plumbing is a great step up in the evolutionary scale. We should all consider not judging people by what they feel, just how their actions affect society and the people around us.

Hey, you've asked the question of the hour!

Way to smoke 'em out!

(edit addition: Regarding that quote of Corinthians as proof of "God's" word against effeminate/gay/etc. I strongly recommend everyone consider the *original words* in the *original language* in which the bible was written, and this scholar's comments on the various ways it has been translated: http://mercytoall.net/dtm/1corinthians.htm )

...I don't know if I'm gonna be able to get back to answer this properly, but for real, it seems like I recall that homosexuality is NOT even mentioned in the bible, and it is NOT labeled as a sin.

There are many people going off without realizing that in the bible it also states some very specific rules about eating certain food IS a sin which most of these saintly and righteous people eat every day.

I'm not a bible scholar, but I do have a friend who is, and I'm pretty confident I've heard him discuss the fact there is NO mention of homosexuality being a sin.

Also, there were holy laws about widows having to marry a surviving brother and the reciprocal the brother having to marry his sister-in-law if widowed or otherwise it would be a sin... something like that... I can't remember specifically.

Anyway, I know for a fact there are many sins defined that fall into similar categories, but for some reason "fundamentalist" xtians don't mind changing the rules about those things being a sin. It's kind of a pick and choose thing.

And one of my favorites: the men who say women who wear pants are sinning... excuse me, but do you realize NO SUCH THING as "pants" existed in biblical times. I have yet to figure out where they came up with that. I mean, it may be that pants were actually an invention of the devil and anyone who wears them will go to hell. Have you not experienced the weird mystery of the zipper? Probably wearing any piece of clothing that has (a) zipper(s) will seal one's fate in hell.

And the thing about "long hair on a woman is a glory, but on a man is a sin..." but except for Jesus? I mean you know all the white western Euro-centric images of him w/long hair...

xtians. always good for a laugh.

except for when they go out and do massacres n stuff on crusades. nothing funny about that.

Since the question was posed on an obviously secular humanistic basis I will give my answer from a dual perspective.
All of us I think, would agree that the natural world is ruled by a certain set of natural laws of cause and effect and of action and result.
Sex is no exception, it also has controlling factors that fall under the laws of nature; natural laws would say, the result of sexual congress is the possibility of impregnation....are we in agreement? Unnatural sexual congress CAN NOT result in impregnation. Therefore it is a simple matter to determine that homosexual congress , beastiality and any number of other deviations could not be considered natural because there is not the possibility of a natural result.

From the Christian point of view of course I could go into much more minute discussion , but i feel that would be a waste of time. I see little use in defending the faith to closed minds.

NATURE SAYS IT IS UN-NATURAL BECAUSE IT DOES NOT CONFORM TO THE LAWS OF NATURAL RESULT...GOD CREATED THE LAWS THAT CONTROLS NATURE.

It is un natural a 5 year old can tell you that, no animal in the whole creation does this because it is against his nature, God has created a creation with a purpose and as natural as can be is man with women to procreate for the next generation, that is the natural order and Gods word is clear, but more obvious is just to observe the creation instead of defending aberrant behavior, if we all became homos over night the world would end in one generation, but the order is not so! even if you believe evolution which I dont, you still can see the true nature of things. Man is the only animal created to do this. That's why!

It depends on the christian and how to the book they are. I'm christian and yes some say it's considered a sin, but I feel that you are put here to make your own choices and no one can tell you how to be. And as for the people that have a problem with it and say it's unnatural tell them to read the part that says you were put here with your own free will.

The literal translation of the Bible. There are verses in the Bible that state that homosexuality is a violation of Gods law. Some people feel that Gods law and the laws of nature are one in the same.

How can liberals decry christians when every traditional religion I know of prohibits homosexuality?

Homosexuality is natural. It is a genetic mutation, if we believe the current propaganda from the left. Down's Syndrome is also a genetic mutation. One day people may be able to eliminate both genetic traits from the human population. That will be a good thing.

well gee don't you know? Every sexual act must involve two fertile people in a legal relationship. Sex that can't procreate is a sin...so no marriage for seniors, the sterile, no masturbation and certainly no birth control.
If thinking about homosexual act disgusts you so much quit thinking about it. Tell you what- I promise not to do any sexual act that is unnatural for me if you promise the same....no cruising airport restrooms, no gay bars on your way home from work, no hangin' on the "down low". Just stick with your "natural" partners and quit worrying about me and mine.
