My family and I just moved out of state, so I'm in a new school.
I'm alittle shy..especially around guys. They don't really talk to me all that much..and when they do..I freeze up, and just say a couple words or something..I really hate that..I don't want them to think I don't like them or don't want to talk to them.
I know some guys like shy girls..but I don't want to be shy anymore..I wanna be able to talk to people and not get so nervous.

I dress nicely, am always clean, smell nice, am smart, and people tell me I'm pretty..and before I leave for school..I feel like I am..but there's also alot fo really pretty girls in my school..and once I get there...I just don't feel all that pretty anymore. I feel like guys would rather choose one of them than me.
I really don't know why..I try not to..but it's not working.
So.....
What should I do?

P.S. I'm already in a couple of clubs, and it's too late for sports for this year.

Thanks =D

Hang with people who lift your spirits and compliment you.

I'm a guy, and I'm not so sure that most guys would rather go for prettier girls. To be frank, pretty much all girls are pretty and the reason guys are attracted to girls that seem prettier is because those are the girls that smile a lot, and gather attention. If you want some attention, you should smile more, and generally be a happy person. Some guys do like shy girls, but they like it more when you have an answer if they ask you something.

You sound like a normal teenager. Don't think about saying something dorky. Think about responding to the speaker. Just...talk! Let it come naturally.

But I understand being a new girl with an outgoing attitude is hard, cuz I was new last year and there were these girls being insane and people laughed along. But I pick up a similar humor style and people are all like, "W.T.H.??"

Ya know, bout that pretty thing: if guys come up to you and ask you random questions ("So....how was the chem test?"), maybe with some light swaying and faked "casualness", he probably likes u.

Find a group of friends that you fit in well with and don't worry about the "pretty girls." Just consentrate on your friends for a while and guys will start comming along. Boys usually like the layed back type of girl. If you look like you are trying to hard, Your not going to have any luck.

If you're not feeling pretty when you go to school then you could make small changes like putting on lip gloss a little blush, whatever to make yourself feel pretty and walk with confidence and a big smile when you are near guys, guys like confidence and nice smile on girls. Make eyecontact, smile and say Hi and pay compliments to those you really like, something like "You look really sharp today" You smell nice, You're a genius today in class, etc.

well you got the whole pretty thing going on so that's good.
just forget about the other girls
my one friend is really self concious and guys don't like that...they just want to hang with a girl who's fun and doesn't cause drama or doesn't care about what they look like
so don't pay attention to those other girls
and maybe you should practice
with a mirror of talking or talk to like a close guy..like a cousin or brother and just practice and then go for it.

You shouldn't let others looks make you feel inferior. What was it that Eleanor Roosevelt said.? No one can make you feel inferior without your consent. ...

You can't make anyone like you. You can be yourself and confident in what you do.

Be confident in who you are. You are a good person with a lot of good qualities. Don't try so hard. Just smile and act like everyone is your friend. Get to know them as friends. Ask them questions about them or their families. Talk to them as you did back in your old town. What are their likes and dislikes?

Best wishes to you.

wow you sound EXACTLY like me! except I didn't just move out of state, but everything else you said is exactly like me. I decided that today I was going to try and talk to this one guy I like, but of course as usual it didn't work out and I didn't end up talking to him :( I would also love to hear people's answers to your questions because I have the same ones!

Ive always loved shy girls! lol
Try dressing very sexy and be responsive to their flirting, but not too much! This will keep the determined guys coming back for you to pick and choose! GOOD LUCK!
