Ok, almost every dream I have is about a lake with alligators and algae. It's so scary. I once had a dream about swimming in the lake, and an alligator was swimming after me. The next time, I dreamt that I was holding a fishing pole with a spider, and it climbed down as the fishing line, and grabbed a fish out of the pond. Then, I dreamt I was with this person, I forgot the face, but he was walking me down a cement path beside the lake talking to me. Now, yesterday, I dreamt that this man in a suit was helping me get home by going through these obstacles where the lake was. I had to jump on a wooden platform, and it fell. When it fell, I woke up. What does this all mean? It's a reoccuring dream that's really freaky.

Look up some dream dictionaries on the internets or at the library or something. They give general information about dreams, you will probably feel that an explanation of a dream symbol is true for you or not.

It's also a good idea to write your dreams out. You will get longer more detailed dreams when you start working with them in this way. And you will see that your subconscious is very creative and at times even playful, and very efficient. We can get a great deal of information in one dreaming session. The subconscious likes to use puns and of course metaphor. Sometimes I have only 'got it' by writing it out.
I had a dream once with a woman I know named Grace in it.
It only occurred to me in writing it out that Grace represented the spiritual concept of 'grace' .

Anyways, dreams with water are common. It can represent the unconscious, deep, dark and at times overwhelming. Maybe the alligators mean that you feel threatened by subconscious impulses - which again is very common, and one reason why they are subconscious. Algae is green and green is the colour of Life, and the colour associated with the heart chakra.
Sometimes dreams scare us, yet they are telling us something positive.

Water also represents emotion.
I think in your case this is true, but again, see for yourself. Maybe you are feeling strong emotions and fear experiencing or expressing them. Maybe you simply don't want to go there.
We are often uncomfortable with our animalistic nature. It is a threat to the ego.

Alligators and other cold blooded creatures often represent the primal or reptilian brain. This would be the first brain humanoids developed millions of years ago, found at the base of the brain stem. Maybe you are dealing with real primal stuff.

Spiders can represent creativity .Fish for me, are another symbol for Life.

The man in the suit may represent some sort of guide or wisdom within - We all have aspects of the opposite gender in our consciousness. You have this higher guidance to get you through the obstacles. Maybe it's about trust.

If your into it, you may want to look up the writings of Carl Jung. He was a contemporary of Freud, and he took dream analysis seriously, when most other professionals would not. He wrote a lot about unconscious yearnings, symbols and their meanings.

>> Water can represent our unconscious/emotions.
>> being chased can represent a situation/aspect of ourselves we don't wish to face. Turbulent / sludgy emotions maybe? (the alligators & the algae)
>> To see a spider in your dream, indicates that you are feeling like an outsider in some situation. Or that you may want to keep your distance and stay away from an alluring and tempting situation. The spider is also symbolic of feminine power. Alternatively, a spider may refer to a powerful force protecting you against your self-destructive behavior.
Spiders are a symbol of creativity due to the intricate webs they spin. On a negative note, spiders may indicate a feeling of being entangled or trapped in a sticky or clingy relationship. It represents some ensnaring and controlling force. You may feel that someone or some situation is sucking the life right out of your emotions as the spider was on the fishing pole & ensnared a fish.
>> The man helping you could represent some masculine aspect of yourself (this may be why he's faceless) that has the ability to steer you through these situations safely.
Ciao!

This is your dream and they are your symbols and your metaphor. You must interpret your dreams yourself, but can ask for help, what does this mean to you and the answer might strike a cord with how you view it, it it yours.
To me,Alligators are fierce, algae is slimy, lakes are for fun if you don't drown, guy in a suit is status quo, spiders are a sacred creatures to the native American Indian cause spiders reside in dark hidden places like the recesses of our subconscious self, The platform from which you stand , jump on to, if you landed on it you would be standing on it, politicians stand on a platforms, The platform falls, not you, you woke up.
Was the man's suit a light blue, by any chance, if so, I know who he is.
Fishing is fun but you can snatch a fish out of the water with your hand, what an ability.

You think about God allot, don't you.

hi, what the answerer obi wan said is how i interpreted your dreams too.
except to add the fishing bit...
spiders represent deception or manipulation of some kind.
YOU however are holding the fishing line with a spider on the end as bait, to catch yourself a fish (which i saw as being a person- you know the saying, 'there are many fish in the sea').
i thought therefore that part of the dream may have been showing you that you are using some sort of deception in order to 'catch' someone. whether its just acting in a certain way (thats not totally yourself) to impress someone or something a little more deceptive like lying to someone to get what you want- i dunno. but i'd guess the fact that you are dreaming about it suggests that its probably not a good way to go.

Wow.... alot of dreams. Swimming in lake represents swimming in the issues of life. Alligators represent fears or issues which you feel are lurking below or hidden while you are trying to stay afloat in life's issues. Fishing pole represents you fishing for something which you need. Fish can represent something of a financial or personal need. Spider is associated with something of a deceptive nature or associated with lies. Spider represents a issue which decieved you and stole the fish you should have caught. The last part of your dream represent issues which you feel are obstacles in your life and you are making your way through them.

Recurring Dreams
Recurring dreams can be highly useful and important to analyze. They happen for one of two reasons:
(1) they reflect an unhealthy pattern that you have fallen into in real life, and they are trying to show you that your behaviour is not helping you be happy. Or,
(2) they represent unresolved feelings, such as anger or sadness over a past situation that you have not healed from.
In many recurring dreams, your sleeping self is trying to solve a problem - or confront an emotion - that you are unable to face in real life. Whatever the subject of your recurring dream is, you can be sure it is reflecting something in your current life situation, even if the dream takes you back in time. Use the Dream Dictionary to analyze the major symbols and events in your dream, to piece together its message. Think carefully about what in your life might be causing you continual stress or worry.
