I am looking to lose about anywhere from 25-40 pounds. I am also hoping to lose it around my legs, thighs, stomach, and arms... pretty much all over. I am not looking to starve or diet. I am actually looking for a exercise plan. What can I do to help lose this weight in the shortest amount of time, perferably before January?

I actually lost 40 lbs from January to June, and have kept it off since, while building a good deal of muscle. This was all done naturally, without using any kind of supplement/diet aid. It's definitely possible, but it's not easy. It will take a lot of dedication. I would suggest a combination of diet, strength training, and cardio. To start, cut out the simple carbs (i.e. white bread, chips, sugars..things of this nature). Sugars are the most important, as they are instant weight gainers. Also, cut out as much junk food as possible, as well as foods containing high fat contents. Complex carbs are OK in moderation (i.e. whole grain foods), but they should generally be eaten prior to a workout so that they will be burned off. Always follow a workout with about a fist full of lean protein. Chicken, fish, steak, anything of this sort will work. The protein is used to rebuild the muscle that is broken down from the workout. For the actual workout, I would start with 3 days a week. Weight training first, followed by cardio. Monday: Upper Body workout followed by a half hour of jogging/fast walking, Wednesday: Lower Body followed by 1/2 hour fast walking/jogging, Friday Whole body followed by 1/2 hour fast walking/jogging. Saturday 1/2 hour any cardio of your choosing and no weights. Start again Monday. After you get used to this, move up to 3 days on 1 day off, and 45 minutes cardio, meaning you will workout 6 days a week. I guarantee that if you do the heaviest weights you can handle, increasing when possible, and really push yourself, you will get incredible results. You can email me if you want a detailed workout. Good luck!

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

The trick to losing weight is simple. Eat less and move around more. Lots more. Swim, buy a treadmill, garden, do jumping jacks, jump rope....eat satisfying salads with expensive NO FAT dressings. You can't even tell they are no fat... Stay away from Almond butter, peanut butter, mayo, bacon, fatty meats from fast foods, spinach dips~the calories and fat content are outrageous. Did you know there is fat free pringles??? They are prett good too! Take vitamin B12 and potassium. Eat fruit and vegetables, no fat refried beans, good stuff maynard~ Also....Spark People is real gem of a website....Remember this takes time! And...i always find it best to not tell anyone you are dieting...they just can't help but watch every bite you take.....Good luck!

The best approach is to lose weight gradually and for good. Yoga offers a good solution to this problem. Yoga tones the body in a uniformed manner, unlike any " weight loss program" which claims to decrease your butts by this much inches and waist by this much, leading to side effects. Yoga can be practiced at any age to keep the body supple.

The best thing to do is up your metabolism. The way I always tell people to do this is the first thing in the morning before you do ANYTHING is look at your clock, put your feet on the floor and perform no less than three minutes of light calisthenics. Simple jumping jacks, running in place, or deep knee bends will set the tone for the remainder of the day and it will also make you feel better!

Multiply your age by your current weight. That will give you calories you take in everyday to stay that weight. If you subtract 1000 calories you will lose about 20 lbs. It will come off the same way it went on, slowly.
