You go out the door. Cross the street and get hit by a bus. You're coming home from a dance and some one shoots you just for fun, you're still dead. It can happen in a second or take it's lovely time, but it happens to everyone. Me, you, the guys dog next door. I look forward to it. Can't be many years away either since I am almost 60 now. It would be a new experience and that all life is about new experiences. And just because this body is dead does not mean you aren't still alive somewhere, somehow in some way.

For the longest time I was afraid of death. I was so terrified in fact that I would go out of my way to avoid any possible danger. If I thought of death I'd be so overcome with fear that for the next several hours I'd cry. The main reason I realised I was afraid of death is because I honestly thought that when I died, I wouldn't really be dead and therefore burried alive. I was terrified of the idea that I be trapped in a box with worms, ants and other insects crawling all over me.
I am not afraid to die any more. I have come to peace with the fact that eventually it will happen, and with some therapy plus my belief in and recent dedication of my life to God, I have somehow over come the insane belief I had about being mistaken for dead and burried alive. But just in case, I still want to be creamated.
I suppose it is natural for every one at some point in their lives to be overcome with fear of dying that we react the way you said you are. But, I know it is not healthy to be so scared of the inevitable and if it continues to be a problem, I urge you to seek some counseling.
Hope this helps. God bless and good luck.

yes. cuz i don't Know what's on the other side. it's really something hard, not knowing like this.
i heard one or some responders say, "nothing to fear cuz you won't feel anything anyway..."
And how do they _know_ that? Really? Who here really Knows what's on the other side - if you can feel or not?
People say, "well your body is dead, so will all the pain receptors be dead...no feeling."
Yea? You ever have a lucid dream where you got hurt/hit/beaten/cut? --Some of you understand-- the pain was very real during the dream sequence. And what did that have to do with your sleeping body? Nothing, right?
Later when you wake, it's something you can shrug off, sure...
But it seems the Deep Self can experience pain (and pleasure, and joy) independent of body experiences.

I am confident that I will do fine, when the time comes.
Why? I am a Christian. I believe that Jesus Christ is real, that he loves me, and he died and came alive again. I believe is my creator, and he has gone to heaven to prepare a home for me. -- All this can be found in the New Testament of the Bible.
In other words, I am certain because of my faith that when I leave my body and leave this world, that I will go to Heaven.
--That removes my fear.
The only fear I have is of suffering pain in the process of dying. That part won't be any fun. But beyond that its all good.

EVERYONE dies, and i dont think i need to tell u that.
i used to have full-on panic attacks becuase i used to think that i was losing weight all the time and i thought that i had something wrog with me that i couldnt stop. i used to think that as i was losing weight, i was closer to death (i was losing weight from being sick, which stressed me, which lead me to losing more weight, but then as soon as i got a doctor to tell me that u cant die from just losing weight like that, my problems were almost resolved completely. i got over the last bit myself.). Also, do u have free time on ur hands at the moment? usually people get worried when they have nothing to do, so they dwell on things.

I am a little, but I'm kinda just learning to accept that everyone will die sooner or later and that it's a natural part of life. I don't want to die because I was shot, or tasered or tortured....nothing like that. THAT'S more of what I'm afraid of, you know? I want to die peacefully in my sleep or something like that.
