As a Christian , there have been a few times when I went looking for more uplifting reading, but usually only when I am down about something. Most of the time, I find others opinions intriguing and interesting whether or not I agree with them. I like to try to know why people believe what they do and I always enjoy a good debate. It amazes me how little research and investigation some people do before they form opinions or beliefs in anything.
As far as the mean and hateful answers, the Bible says all people are sinners, those kinds of answers prove that to me all the time and I could say almost reinforce my faith that what the Bible says is true.

Actually, I'm a Christian and I do take a couple of days off of R&S. I'll tell you, it's the hatefulness and judgementalism of my fellow Christians that bothers me. Instead of answering a question, some Christians use this forum to rant, judge, and force themselves on others. I do not believe that is, or has ever been, right as far as what I have been taught. Who knows maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm supposed to be mean and hateful towards people. Maybe the Christian religion has morphed so much that it's just a cute little club that gets to make up it's own rules......My rules come from Someone Else.

to answer the question yes, I do take days off where I don't look at this.
Some of the questions, if I love jesus tonight will he respect me in the morning, are blasphemous.
but if someone asks, what is the mechanism of abiogenesis, you get nothing, the ones who use big words are themselves empty vessels, devoid of knowledge, understanding and most certainly wisdom. Evolution is called a change in a alelle.
Darwinism is a change from one animal to another. These people are not intellectually honest enough to deal with the fact that they have to play hide the facts to have any kind of position at all.
I take days off, but I would not if someone has an honest legit question. The problem here is not that there is no evidence for the existance of God, not that their is not legal (as in tried in court) proof for the accuracy of the bible, people who are unschooled in the facts make blanket statements in their ignorance and if challenged, withdraw into obscurity and hide.
There is a huge difference in the integrity of the Christians here and those who claim to be students of sciences. The latter seem to be shallow, untruthful and I tire of their babble

I am a Christian and I very seldom even come to this site.Because I couldn't handle it. I have checked your questions and answers and I know you are a top contributor in the R.&.S. site. You are strong in your faith. So take that break and just either hang out in another site or stay away altogether for a day or two. You'll be back strong as ever qouiting scripture as normal. God Bless you. enjoy your break.

Dear Pamela,
Yes, I do feel that way at times although perhaps not for the same reasons.
I know that God, the awesome uncreated Creator of the universe cannot be mocked. People who mock Him are only showing how small their minds are.
What bothers me is when some very trivial questions get asked over and over and over each day. That is when I know it is time for a break to read some good books.
For His glory,
JOYfilled

Sure -- especially at first. But now I'm at a point where I listen to people and a lot of things just roll off of my back. If an aetheist says something mean or inflammatory - it doesn't faze me anymore because I understand where they are coming from (I used to not believe in God too). I don't take any of it personally, even though people mean it personally. And I keep Eph 6 in mind - we wrestle not against flesh and blood. If I were talking to people face to face though - I think it would be harder.
I'd say to you - take some time off from it. Visit and post when you want and move away from it if it gets to be too much for you. Don't force yourself to keep going if you need a break.

I've been known to take a "mental health" vacation from this place. What bugs me more than anything are those people who think it's their sworn duty as 'Christians' to tell us Catholic Christians that we're going to hell. No matter how often we tell them that we don't worship Mary and the saints or what Scriptures we quote to support a particular doctrine, we're "not Christians," and there's no changing their narrow little minds.
After dealing with too much Catholic bashing, I take a few days off. That way, I get my equilibrium back and can deal politely with people here.

Sometimes. There do seem to be people here who delight in ridiculing God, ridiculing us, calling us pathetic idiots (while at the same time claiming to be moral, loving, and accepting of one and all), and telling us how immoral we are.
I love the Lord, too.
I just know in my heart that they are baiting and goading us.
That is how they get pleasure out of life: by making fun of others and ridiculing other beliefs.
Consider the source, friend.

Yes, sometimes I do. Other times I just pick out the more simple questions to answer. THEN, there are the days that I search for the tough, sometimes sarcastic questions so that I can give an in depth kind answer.
Yes, it is trying at times though.

Hi! I have taken time off for a day and gone into other topics to answer questions. There are many people, especially in Family & Relationships who need help and Jesus can help and speak to them through our answers. I have received many thank you e-mails from young people who thanked me for taking the time to answer their question, and that they appreciated the encouragement. I will be praying that the Lord strengthen you Pamela. God bless you, and I appreciate you!!!
