Do cardio exercises, like jogging or doing an aerobics class. Walking for an hour can even count.

The main thing about crunches is that it builds muscles. It's not the best thing for burning off fat. When you just do crunches without the cardio, your body is building muscle under the fat.

So, do a combo of the two, cardio + crunches, and you'll have a nice belly in no time!

There is no spot reduction...your abdomen doesnt just lose fat from your belly.You need to do aerobic type exercise for 45-60 minutes a day...this will burn your fat stores in your liver first which takes about 20-30 mins..then your body will start burning fat from other sites after 30 mins..ie hips,upper arms,breast and yes belly...crunches will help firm up the muscles behind the flab..but it wont burn up the fat cells.

If you wrap your mid-section in saran wrap when you exercise, it causes that area to sweat more, but really is more for love handles.
