Anxiety is caused by a rush of adrenaline to the heart...most people will feel this when they are about to get into a fight, when they have a close call while driving a car...or when giving presentations. Its our bodies way of preparing us for danger. People who suffer from anxiety produce this adrenaline when none of the above situations occur. When this happens we go through all symptoms (racing heart, sweating, scared) but can't explain it off as being due to some of the scenarios I listed above. What happens is we start to condition ourselves to be so scared of the symptoms, that we put ourselves in "fighting mode" just because were scared that the symptoms will appear again. So in essence...we start a cycle of being scared that the symptoms will appear...then because we're scared the symptoms will appear... they appear...next thing you know...your having a full blown anxiety attack.

How to cure it....first of all, you need to realize that you are not crazy ( and best of all..you already know what you have...far ahead of where I was at). Next you need to realize that your symptoms are not going to kill you (yes, they are scary..but you will live). also, you already know..the symptoms go away.

What you need to do is break the cycle. when you get an attack (cause you know you going to get one) you need to accept the symptoms, realize that the adrenaline is causing them and to tell yourself to hang in there as they will pass. Its difficult at first...but after a while when the symptoms come..you begin to be not so scared of them...soon because your are no longer fearing the symptoms...you begin to relax more and you body stop producing the adrenaline. Soon the attacks only come periodically...and when they do your able to handle it and move on.

NO IT will not kill you. Heart attacks are caused by clogged arteries in the heart or by blood clots, neither of which are stress related. However, you do have a chemical imbalance and are in need of some medication to get stabilized as this will not go away by itself and if left untreated will get worse. See your doctor at next available appointment. You have an illness and it is nothing about which to be ashamed.
