about 98% of them...
the other 2% embrace a belief system that agrees with their prejudices against others....
EDIT: Sorry about that, Pangel...maybe the 98% was a bit high. Let me adjust that to 97%....with the 1% being like Pangel...:)

first off, i don't 'believe a religion'...i don't even have a 'religion'. i have a savior, Jesus Christ, and i am one of His followers. fear? no, i have no fear of God...He loved me before i was even born, He created me and gave me some great gifts, some of whom are my contacts. He loves me so much that He sent His son to die so that i could live forever-why should i fear someone like that? hell? i have no fear of hell, as He tells me i won't be there, wherever or whatever it may be. why did i turn away from the life i had and towards Christ? because i found myself clueless about everything i thought i knew...i had no answers, just a lot of desperate questions, i had no peace, no real joy-i had 'stuff' but i found no joy in it. i had a lot of 'pleasures and diversions', but none of them ever satisfied. none of my reading and study brought me answers for anything other than the material and physical aspects of life, and i found nothing in philosophy but navel-gazing quotemeisters...no one seemed to make any sense, but Christ. His message is simple, His message is love...i have found nothing that He said to be in error or in need of further refinement, analysis, or modification-He truly is the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end, and the great 'I am"...so, no-i don't follow Christ out of fear-but out of faith, hope, and love.
sorry for ranting...i didn't mean to give a sermon or a 'friday nite testimony'...i just figured that your question deserved a more 'complete' answer than 'not me'...thanks you for your patience and have a great weekend!

I am a believer but have no part with religion. I don't believe in a burning hell but believe that the lost shall be cast into a lake of fire for complete destruction. (no eternal torment) So no fear of torment and hell but I serve my God out of love and faithfulness.

I have a reverent Fear of God. Not like He will strike me dead if I do something bad.
God has not given us a Spirit of fear but of power and of Love and a sound mind.
He is My Peace. My strength,Hope and Life.

I respect God. Until I accepted Him, I didn't really know how miserable I was. Then one day I could feel the doom. So I accepted Jesus, and now have no fear.

For a while, that was the only reason I had for believing in God. So I stopped.

Very good question. The God of Jesus knows, the meaning of "many are called, but few are chosen", comes to mind.

Well, there are many, many different reasons to come to Christ. Yes, some come to him as "fire insurance" as my Sunday School teacher described it.
For me, I sought him because there were so many holes in the theory of evolution, that I could no longer support it.
I have heard many others come to Christ because of his love for them.
The question is, what is your reason? As for me, it was not of fear, but in freedom from fear.

You can't do that; eventually your faith will wear out! I believe in God because he has proven to me he is my best friend at the end of the day and he has my best interest, for he loved me even when i couldn' t love myself. And he'sNEVER let me down; even though i let him down like nearly e'ryday.
I gotta give it to him; he really does put up with me.

We SHOULD fear the Lord out of reverence and obedience--but fear of the Lord is the first step of wisdom--it should show us how very holy he is and that we are all sinners and should fall short of his glory, but we don't if we are in Christ Jesus.
