Some do, its a cultural expression. You can say Thursday which is a carry over from Norse religion meaning "Thors day" and not believe in Thor. I don't say it very often but I do sometimes because I grew up hearing people say it. My grandmother would always tell us not to if she heard it as she felt it was saying something disrespectful. Anyway, once I saw something funny/unbelievable on tv and said "Oh my God" and my husband not missing a beat turned to me and said "yes, dear." Priceless.

Yes, I say "oh my god" but it's just a phrase to me. I'm not actually calling out to god. But maybe I should start saying "oh your god" instead so as not to confuse anyone.

Oh my god , or Jesus Christ , when something goes wrong , are just expressions . They have nothing to do with belief or disbelief .
When someone is called a big lug , they're not claiming that they believe the person is the great god Lugh .

Yes, I say it all the time. Since I'm an atheist, it's a meaningless phrase to me, which is commonly used to convey emphasis or surprise.

I tend not to bother with the OMG thing.
And what I do say when I require expletives are generally unprintable in Y!A

Don't worry about the spelling correction, most of the atheists have come to expect it.
It is how we tell who the real Christians are.

Yes I do. Also "Jesus"... despite train station billboards telling me not to. Actually it's a pretty funny campaign... you see a cartoon shouting balloon with a name like "KEVIN!" and below it "there are 20.000 first names. Only one of them is used as an expletive. For many people this name is sacred. Please use this name with respect." I think they do have a point actually...I should get rid of that habit.

Oh my god! is an old human expression... people making much ado about old human expressions... I say this because a christian would claim an atheist saying "oh My God: is proof of god.... to that i say "holy sh*t" I always wondered what a christian would say to that old human expression. lmao

Atheists do say "oh my God" as well as many other blasphemies and when you ask them why they cant give a good reason.
They will learn the error of their ways.

Yes, it's just a figure of speech. It's just like saying bless you when someone sneezes to show a certain emotion.
