Being down town in Indy is one of my favorite things to do. My wife and I like to take our motorcycle and park in front of the Chocolate Factory on the circle and drink coffee (free refills). I have taken my daughters down on Friday and Saturday nights and have never felt unsafe. There is always something to do in Indy.

Indy is an up and coming city. Broad Ripple a neighborhood on the northeast side of town is good for it's night life and art scene. Indy has some good restaurants and the downtown area is pretty. Although it seems like a lot of business in done in the outskirts of the city rather than downtown. They have the Colts & the Pacers but no baseball team. They have an international airport which not sure if you care but is important to me. It's also a 2 1/2 hour drive to Chicago and 1 hour away from Bloomington, IN another cool spot.

dude, sounds like you just need to do some internet research... it could take me pages to write everything i know. check out....
www.indy.com
www.nuvo.net
www.indyscene.com
www.citysearch.com (indianapolis)
that should get you started.
but i have to make one suggestion. PLEEASE don't listen to the previous answerer and eat at the spaghetti factory. If you are into good food at all, you will run screaming out of the city if that's the first place you go to. it had its heyday many many many years ago, but now its....well, remember the spaghetti you were served in middle school with applesauce as a side?
....i'm pretty sure that's better than the Spaghetti Factory! :)

Indy is such a great place! i live 45 minutes away, and we love to go for the weekend. Make sure if you can, that you eat at least once at St Elmo's steakhouse, or Ruth Chris. Yum!!!!!!!! Circle Centre is great to window-shop, there are a lot of small bars and clubs around to pick from, and you should go and see a movie at Hollywood Bar and Filmworks. make sure to take your walking shoes, as there are several interesting places downtown that just driving by doesn't do justice.

Indys pretty awesome. I LOVE downtown. It's very exciting during the nighttime. There is this one restaraunt there called "The Spaghetti Factory"--its amazing!!. I love going down there for events and going around to the radio stations in Monument Circle. Its very beautiful. Theres also a big mall in the middle of the city called Circle Centre-its so fun to shop there. Alot of people live here, its like the 6th biggest city in the US, or at least what ive read online. Well thats all i got! :]]]

Yeah its cool. Its cheap to live here. There could be more things to do but it is definitely improving. If you know where to go and avoid the white trash it can be a good time. Definitely not the "6th biggest city" though.
