He actually had several wives, one was Jewish (she later poisoned him, which proved him not so much a prophet since he never saw it coming) and he also had a christian wife. This is largely believed where so many similarities between with those faiths. He was also illiterate, so what was written down for the Quran, were actually dictated. He was raised in the tribal regions through Arabia, which had a pantheon of gods. What his faith was before Islam is mere conjecture, as nothing is written about it.

Christianity - In fact, some historians believe that Mohammad was trying to bring Jesus to the tribes - however, he had to modify it just a little bit to make it more palpable to their culture. Hince, Islam.

Narcissism? (Ok, I know it doesn't classify as a religion, but his ego must have been huge to rewrite himself as "god's prophet" and to convince a Pagan dad to marry off his six-year-old daughter, Aisha, to Mohammad).

I don't think he had one. But he was exposed to many Jews and Christians, and he stole different aspects of those religions to put into his own.
