I work at a hotel and we got the Otis Spunkmeyer cookies and we made some today, but for some reason thet have gotten hard already. I know I love this brand of cookies because they are soooo soft! How come these have hardened so fast?? Subway's stay soft too. What the hell is the secret?

Not sure if there is a secret - I work in school foodservice and we used to serve these - they seem to get hard if they are overcooked - take them out as soon as they flatten evenly and are barely brown- not when they begin to brown all over - they will continue to cook if left on the pan to cool - 5 mins - we also used parchment and a convection oven - 300 degrees and low fan - we wrapped them in plactic wrap when cooled -2 together - or layer between parchment 2 high - and seeled in airtight containers. Don't refridgerate them - they get brittle and if rewarmed to soften they get harder every time and loose flavor. Make small batches or cook as needed - keep them frozen solid before cooking - it keeps them from getting to thin. hope this helps

I think you are supposed to put a slice of bread in with the cookies when you store them. I heard that keeps them soft.
