It's most probably from the region between E. Switzerland and Bulgaria. Picking the exact location isn't easy because the former empire of Austria-Hungary ignored boundaries and moved people around at will. Phonetically, I'd put it somewhere between Slovakia and Bulgaria, but there's a lot of land in the low-Slovak speaking area.

Ancestry census records show Ladoska (with the k) from Poland/Russia.
