1. Usual placement for mainlight is at a 45 degree angle: T OR F -
45 degrees from what? It depends upon your subjects features.
2. Correct position for mainlight is on the left: T OR F -
It depends upon your subject. Everyone has an open and closed side of their face. Your goal is to balance that by opening the closed side and closing the open side.

3. Normal position for camera places lense on subject's nose: T OR F
-Again, this depends upon your subjects features, but the majority should be about two inches above the eyes.

4. The traingular patch of light made should extend from the eye down:
-If you are doing Rembrandt lighting.

5. The shadow under the nose should travel diagonal
-Yes if doing Rembrandt, Short side or Broad side lighting.

6. Fill light show cast it's own shadows:-
The fill light ads detail to the shadowed area.

7. Main-to-fill ratio of 3:1 OR 4:1 is right for portraitures -
3:1 ( a one stop difference) is most common, 4:1 and 5:1 offer more drama.

8. When she has light blonde hair you should use a dark backdrop for seperation:-
Not necessarily, a medium tone is fine or white for a nice high key effect.

9. Hairlight should be aimed at the top of the head -
Of course, unless the hairlight is to light hairy arms (LOL!)

10. Accent light is usually a small spot -
Depends on how much of the body you are showing and wish to highlight, but in general, yes.

I would consider short side lighting a "basic", not Rembrandt in this era of portraiture.

There are some basic "laws" for creating good pics, BUT when you're in the studio you have absolute control of the lighting and background to do whatever you want. Go nuts, have fun, be creative and enjoy being a photography... I do
