I believe so. Ever since I pissed off that Voodoo priestess, my avatar has been suffering excruciating stabbing pain in the groin area.
Seriously:
Voodoo was originally known as Voudon, and voodoo dolls were not a part of that religion.

Magic
Another important tradition of Vodoun is magic. Magic is worked for both good and ill, by initiates and by non-initiates. Orthodox traditions generally despise and prohibit harmful magic, but it is not unknown. Spells in Vodou take a variety of forms, the best known being the wanga, or charm. Wangas are usually worked for protection, for healing, for love. The charms known colloquially as gris gris or mojo bags are a form of wanga; these are not restricted to voodoo practice. The "voodoo dolls" so recognizable to Westerners did not originate in Vodoun, but were incorporated into American Voodoo from European folk magic. (Another descendent of the same tradition is the Wiccan "poppet.") In West Africa, where Vodoun originated, there is not to be found anything resembling a "voodoo doll".
Origin of the "Voodoo doll" myth:http://plaza.ufl.edu/kjbowen/project2/myths.html
Voodoo dolls are universally associated with Voodoo. Most know the concept of the voodoo doll-- a doll is made as a likeness of the intended victim and is then stuck with pics and needles to inflict pain upon the victim. It is surprising then to learn that Voodoo dolls are unheard of in the original Voodoo in Haiti, although some are used in New Orleans voodoo, mostly to amuse tourists.
The Yamster has supernatural powers, Dude, you know that...such as the ability to have you account deleted. Sadly, even Voodoo can't overcome that.

Voodoo dolls are used in common terms interior the vudun (voodoo) faith, which got here from carribean islanders. White witches are quite ecu in foundation, and a few practitioners could use something like voodoo dolls, despite if it is not likely the comparable. You learn lots once you reside in New Orleans for some years!
