I don't think "selfish" is the right word to use. You have a terrible situation but I think you know that you do need to take her to the vet. I can't imagine how painful it will be for you if you do lose her too but if there is a serious problem then I really don't think that you want her to suffer unnecessarily. Please take her to the vet and you may find out that she doesn't have a tumour and then you can have closure on losing your poor boy cat and focus on the future with the little girl xxx

If you are not taking your cat to the vet because you cannot handle losing another and knowingly are allowing your cat to suffer then I'm sorry but yes you are being extremely selfish.
We have all lost pets at times and I know how devastating it is, after all you have lost a member of your family.
Saying that though you must never put the well being of your cat second place to your own feelings..
I can see that you love your animals dearly so you know deep down that taking your cat to the vet is the right thing to do.
I wish you & your cat luck xx

Unless you live on a toxic dump, the chances of her having a chest tumor are pretty slim.
She may be mourning the loss of the other cat and you're interpreting it as the same symptoms.
If you really think she's not well, you need to take her to the vet - it's the humane thing to do.
Good luck.

I hate to say this, but Tilly is the niece of the one previously put to sleep, I think? There could be a family tendency to a tumour, although I would think it is unlikely. The ultimate act of love is to take Tilly to the vet, whatever the outcome. Please don't let her suffer. I hope you are worrying unnecessarily, and do understand, because I lost 5 year old twins 17 days apart 2 years ago.

As hard as it may be to do, it is most definitely the kinder to take your cat to the vet as soon as possible. You may find that if the condition is caught early enough they could treat it and you won't need to lose her too. If you don't do this, then YES you are being selfish, because you are putting your fear of loss before the well-being of your pet.

if she's in pain please take her to the vets . I think you know what is the right thing to do. Its not about how you feel its about the needs of the cat. I really hope your suspicions are wrong i know how it feels to lose a cat i nearly died when my cat died last year I've still got her sister and i would like to think that if i ever have to make that horrible decision i would do it for her sake i wouldn't want her to suffer.I hope everything works out well for you and your cat . Let us know good luck.

The problem with cats is they generally do no show signs when they are in pain.
