Read the book "Cat vs Cat" by Pam Johnson-Bennett. Slow introductions need to be made. The new cats to the home should be kept in a small room at first. The book has instructions for how to introduce cats to cats, and cats to dogs. Apparently dogs are rude and break the standard cat rules of meeting by just running up to meet their new friend.

It will also help to had Feliway diffusers to the home, but keep them away from the litter boxes. I find these to be a must in a multi-cat home. You can get htem cheapest at www.petsmart.com, but not the actual store (they are $10-$20 more expensive).

Never just throw the cats together.

Name of the game is the longer you take to do this the better.
Keep the newbie in a seperate room for the first two weeks. In the 2nd week, take him or her out and put him or her into another room, close the door, and let them into the room the new cat was in. Let them get each other's scent. Give it an hour or two, then back to the first arrangement. Do this every day in the second week, until everyone calms down to each other's scent. The third week, takesomething that smells of the new cat and rub the others down well with it, and vice versa. Do that for a week, then gradually let them spend a bit of time in each other's company.
If they start fighting, back to seperate and do it all over again.

Have your cat box available and place beside the existing cat box.
While petting your cat, if the other 2 cats come near, offer them and your cat a small treat or the same kind of attention. Brushing them is also attention.
Shouldn't take long to get the cats used to each other especially if they are all altered.
Older cats take a little while longer to make the adjustment.
