Tried to read them but the Holy Spirit convicted me so, they have been so contaminated that they are messed up. We have enough Bible anyway. I am a King James Version man myself, won't read anything else.

Well, we had this discussion in our RCIA classes recently, I don't recall which books they were, to be honest, but I know they mentioned that there a couple of books that were kept out of the bible. And they said it was because it didn't read the same way the rest of the books in the bible read, but mostly because the things in them were already in what's now the current version of the bible, it was just all repeated. And since the current version is written in what they deemed better writing, they tossed those out.
I hope that made sense. LOL

They have a lot of excerpts of the Gospels of Mark, Matthew.... as I recall, they read very disjointedly (I read them years ago). What I recall the most was some of the gnostic stuff in Thomas; there was a statement by Jesus that all women must become men in order to get into heaven, I would have to look up the exact quote.
Thomas was the most credible of the gnostic gospels, only because it was more commonly passed around. It is my impression this is because it was mostly quotes from the pre-existing, commonly held Gospels (those in the Bible today)

As far as Gnostic doctrines, they taught that the flesh and mind were completely seperate, and that our salvation was in the mind rather than the flesh. This led them to conclude that it did not matter what you did in the flesh (i.e., sexual behavior, etc) so long as your mind was right. This was my understanding after reading into Gnosticism

They're not in the Bible, because they are not inspired of God, and God didn't write them.
The "gospels of Philip and Thomas" are heresy and nonsense.

Never read them, but probably the same BS the rest of the Bible says.
