The bible can't be interpreted according to many, it must be taken literally. So why wouldn't I be a cannibal? After all, according to the bible, he's just a man.

The bible says to do this in remembrance of me until I come again. It does not say literally. Sorry

At first I thought this was a young teen's question, then I read the observations in the sentences that followed.
I felt slightly confused at first as I couldn't imagine an older teen, must less an adult, having seriously asked the question.
Then it occurred to me that the question was simply meant to poke fun at the Christian faith.
I will try to answer your question politely anyway:
You said:
"...If I eat the flesh from Jesus and drink his blood, does that make me a cannibal?..."
No, according to my dictionary....a cannibal is "...one who eats the flesh of his own kind...".
Think about it....if you believe Jesus to be the Son of God then you know Jesus is not "our kind".
If you don't believe it...why would you want to take Communion anyway?
You said:
"...The bible can't be interpreted according to many, it must be taken literally...."
Yes and it's their religious right to believe that.
However, many Christians believe otherwise and that's their right as well.
If YOU believe so strongely that the Bible must be taken literally and are so concerned about this issue.... I'm surprised that you haven't already taken your concerns to the head of your church and gotten your answer there.
You said:
"...So why wouldn't I be a cannibal?..."
I think I already explained that part.
You said:
"...After all, according to the bible, he's just a man...."
Wrong. The Bible doesn't say that Jesus is "just a man". It says He is the Son of God and that's a definite step up from being ""just a man".

Ok, first of all u CAN NOT read Bible literally, u need to place ur self into the context of the book, the time when it was written and specially WHAT kind of book it is. Bible is NOT a story, actually Adam and Eva didnt existed the way Bible described them, its a personal opinion, Bible is not a scientific book, its a book about FAITH. Good says we eat his flesh and blood in an HIPOTETIC way, we're NOT eating him. Bible is full of symbols (just like the apocalysis book) and about Jesus being just a normal guy, actually Bible DOES NOT say so, he's was born like a human being, and was raised like one, but he made miracles and he revived, thats a lot to make him "supernatural", that means that Jesus IS 100% Human and 100% God, long explanations, but its a Catholic Dogma. U'll only get to understand what u really believe. Search for it on internet. Hope it works

It is a lot deeper than just symbolic cannibalism and if you cannot understand it even practicing it will not do anything for your salvation. And if you have no mind to know anything but just call it symbolic cannibalism to mock it you can never understand. @Revolutionary Maniac It was Jesus himself who said not to cast our pearls before swine, meaning if someone is just out to mock Christ you cannot give a full explanation. If the asker actually has a mind to know they would not have asked in such a clearly mocking trollish manner. But I gave an answer that it has major symbolism and that even those who keep it without understanding need to develop an understanding of it. And if the asker truly cares about the answer they can demonstrate it. Basically the answer is it is a deep symbolism that has multiple meanings that we need to follow, not just cannibalism. If you are busy calling the teacher stupid can you learn?

According to John 6:33, 54-59, "Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I have life because of the Father, so also the one who feeds on me will have life because of me." Jesus is the son of God. He was not just a man. The bread and wine are not just a symbol. In the Catholic church, the bread and wine are changed into the body and blood of Christ.
This means that you would not be a cannabal if you ate Jesus's flesh and drank his blood.

The flesh and blood in context is the bread and wine shared during the last supper and is now done in his memory by the catholics. So you are not a cannibal.

It's hard to understand that Jesus would die for you and me but he did. He endured horrific pain so that you one day would live painfree. We make fun of what we don't understand, but I'm here to tell you that the only way to have eternal life is by believing in and making Jesus your God.

You've been told so now you know, why stand the risk of living eternally in hell. Serious stuff. I challenge you to look into it if you don't believe me.

BTW Catholics are not the only ones who celebrate communion.

Not a cannibal. Jesus provides us his flesh and blood under the appearance of bread and wine. This mystery allows us to enter into communion with God.

Are you actually eating his flesh? No! I must have missed the part in the Bible where Jesus let all the disciples take a bite of his arm... I believe they had bread and wine.

Most Christians will tell you to not take everything in the bible so literally, but according to the Old Testament, this was indeed a real and in my opinion barbaric and ghastly practice, which was eliminated because it made people fearful of the religion.

Maybe is one day you eat a person when you go to court tell them you thought it was Jesus and the Bible told you to eat his flesh and drink his blood. Maybe it will work.
